  • Launched in 2014, very interesting for combining oud with floral notes. Unisex. Average price: 50ml for €100 and 75ml for €130. Scent: 6/10. Sillage: 5/10. Longevity: 9/10.

  • I was the first to feel that ‘doll hair’ scent I read about with skepticism; it lasted less than two minutes. What I notice is more musk than oud, and the florals are completely absent. I just smell musk with warm pear juice. Overall, pretty ‘bah’. Intense at first, it fades quickly and after about 20 minutes, it stays linear: supposedly woody, hyper-musky, and sweet, with good longevity and moderate sillage.

  • Gucci Oud is perhaps the most extreme synthetic bomb from the brand. That solvent-saturated vibe reminds me of doll hair, as Azurita pointed out. The rose-patchouli accord sinks into a dense, plastic amber, while the dry down is sparse and dry. I’m afraid to spray it near fire. It’s a robust winter fragrance radiating a synthetic polar heat. The best part is midway through its life, smelling of dark, smoky rose, similar to Declaration of a Soir but more subtle. I’m not disgusted by it, but it’s so ‘unwearable’ that it only works in winter for formal occasions. Add the price, and the value proposition drops significantly. It’s elegant and potent, but you need to apply it well in advance if it’s cold. A very thoughtful purchase after a full test.

  • Dark, nocturnal, sweet, and sensual, with a sexy edge. Fruity notes in a forest. Ideal for a date or a couple’s dinner. Night, winter. Testing it these days to see if I like it enough to buy, the short answer is no. It doesn’t fit my style. It tries to be elegant and deep, but for me, it just doesn’t quite achieve it. It’s also not elegant in the ‘timeless’ sense. It’s lightyears away from the elegance and class that Versace Oud Noir conveys, which I’ve inevitably and unconsciously compared it to.

  • Dark, nocturnal, sweet, and with a sexy touch. Imagine fruits in a forest. Perfect for dates or winter dinners. I tried it recently to see if it was worth buying, and the short answer is no. It just doesn’t fit my style. It aims to be elegant and deep but fails to deliver. It’s lightyears away from the timeless class of Versace Oud Noir, which I inevitably compare it to.

A collector’s piece from Gucci, the unique 2014 edition that was never reissued. It’s an almost impossible-to-find niche gem reserved for a very select audience. Right now, it’s trading online for around $300. The scent is dark and intense—nothing for everyone, exclusively for those seeking the one-of-a-kind.
