Totally outside my comfort zone… and I loved it. At first, it seems masculine: dark, deep, and spicy, but as it dries down, the vanilla sweetens the path and the florals emerge. In the end, it reminds me of Si by Armani, but with that woody oud touch. Excellent performance for the price!
Exquisite! It’s identical to Alexandre J.’s Rose Oud, but at one-third the price—top-notch value. A beautiful combination of roses with a very friendly oud, a fresh, elegant, and formal duo that is also highly versatile. If I didn’t know it was by Oscar de la Renta, I’d swear it was niche. I loved it!
Reminds me a lot of a fragrance from the Lily Prune line by UdV. Although Fragantica compares it to the 5th Avenue Royale, it doesn’t leave the same impression on me. The opening of the Royale smells like sweet aged wine or spiced fruit, whereas this one starts totally woody, with a ripe rose and a spicy kick. A few minutes in, on my skin, the oud, patchouli, and rose stand out during those 6-8 hours of longevity. The Royale, on the other hand, evolves and always has that soft, warm suede quality this one lacks, though it is warm due to the amber. I bought it blind because I only find it online in my country; I thought I’d love it, but after a week I didn’t feel comfortable with it. It feels heavy and intrusive even with a little application. I considered using it only at night or for formal events since I don’t see it as very versatile. If I had to define it in one word, it’s “dark”—the name fits perfectly. Edit: I tested it in a cold, nighttime setting and now my perception is very positive. What a beautiful rose and that amber! What a delight, warm and elegant. I insist it doesn’t resemble the Elizabeth Arden Royale; in fact, the amber reminded me of Alien, so natural and embracing. It’s not for daily wear, but I’ve discovered its charm and the best time to wear it, which makes me happy.
In one word: Wonderful! There’s nothing else to say.
