Descripción
French Leather by Memo Paris is a leather fragrance from the leather family, created for men and women. Launched in 2014, this composition was designed by perfumer Alienor Massenet. Upon release, the fragrance unfolds a vibrant combination of lime, pink pepper, juniper berry, and bergamot; in the heart, the scent softens with notes of rose, helichrysum, and hay; and at the base, the structure rests on a foundation of suede and cedar.

It’s a perfume that doesn’t take many risks; it’s pleasant and invites you to sniff it constantly, but it lacks body and intensity. It opens with soapy rose and juniper notes with a citrus touch, then transitions into a velvety suede that adds a hint of warmth. It’s the most unisex option in the line, leaning neither clearly toward men nor women. The longevity and sillage are modest for the price, but I love the combination. I’ll look for another scent with these characteristics but bolder, perhaps the Heeley Cuir Pleine Fleur; if that doesn’t work out, I’ll grab this one.
Although it’s marketed as unisex, to me it smells 100% feminine. It starts with a blast of fresh red roses, like they were just watered, and within minutes you pick up the leather. I love that vibe, just like the scent lingers on a leather jacket after spraying it, and French Leather nails it. It’s a gorgeous fragrance; I applied it at 9 AM and could still smell it when I went to bed at 11 PM. Projection, sillage, and longevity are off the charts. Without a doubt, every penny is worth it. I’m head over heels for French Leather, period.
Although it’s marketed as unisex, to me it smells 100% feminine. It starts with a blast of fresh red roses, like they were just watered, and within minutes you can already detect the leather. I love that vibe, just like the scent that lingers on a leather jacket after spraying perfume, and French Leather delivers exactly that. It’s a gorgeous fragrance; I applied it at 9 AM and could still smell it when I went to bed at 11 PM. The longevity, trail, and projection are off the charts. Without a doubt, every penny is worth it. I’m head over heels for French Leather, period.
I agree with one comment: it leans toward what’s considered feminine in scents, although perfumes don’t have a gender. The roses are present in all phases: tender, soft, and not loud, between citrus and fresh notes at the start. As the citrus evaporates, fresh roses remain over a fine, elegant, and lustrous leather. Although the rose is the protagonist, I’m more drawn to the leather from Memo Paris, which is usually extremely fine and of excellent quality, stealing the show. My dry skin ate it up in 5-6 hours (disappointing performance for a niche at this price point). Memorable? Unfortunately not; it’s pretty, I can imagine a woman who wants to smell good without standing out wearing it.
Based on the notes, you might think it’s dense and heavy, but in reality, it’s a fresh rose with incredible staying power, paired with a soft yet fully present leather from the very first spray. It’s perfectly unisex—one of those scents that doesn’t smell like anything you’ve heard before, even though you recognize the notes and they spark curiosity in those around you. A quality niche fragrance that doesn’t always come around.
Given its notes, you might think it’s dense and heavy, but it’s a fresh rose with great longevity and a soft yet present leather from the very beginning. It’s perfectly unisex, a fragrance that doesn’t smell like anything known, yet you recognize its notes and it sparks curiosity in others. A niche quality that isn’t always available.
French Leather stands out for its rose scent, fresh at first but gaining sweetness and complexity with a soft leather note, all built on a musky base. During the dry down, spices and a slightly ‘Asian’ vibe emerge, but never overpoweringly. It’s elegant and wearable; I think it would suit a woman better, though it’s unisex and ideal for mild climates with great performance. Personally, I prefer other rose fragrances as this one is very fresh. The quality is undeniable, even if it reminds me of other perfumes, which takes away some exclusivity, yet it remains a good scent. Rating: 7/10. Thanks to Maison Niche, Chile.
French Leather stands out for its fresh rose aroma at the start, which over time adds sweetness and complexity with a soft leather over a musky base. In the development, spices peek out and a slightly ‘Asian’ sensation appears, but never in excess. It’s elegant and wearable; I think it suits women better, though it’s unisex and ideal for temperate climates with good performance. Personally, I prefer other roses; this one is very fresh. The quality is undeniable, though it reminds me of other perfumes, which reduces exclusivity, but it remains a good composition. Rating: 7/10. Thanks to Maison Niche, Chile.
I agree with the others: truly exquisite, I love it. BUT the trail or projection is quite low, especially considering the price.
SUEDE, FRESH!
To my nose, this is a rose-forward perfume, not leather. It opens with fresh, slightly synthetic, green, and citrusy rose, with a suede note that disappears quickly, leaving the rose as the star. As it dries, cedar and musk give it structure. On my skin, it projected well for a few hours, then stayed close to the skin for a long time. Thanks to that dominant rose, I found it feminine for spring/autumn and semi-formal daytime occasions. It gives a clean feeling and I liked it, even though I’m not a rose fan, but it’s nothing special worthy of its price. There are cheaper options with a similar dry-down to JHAG’s Lady Vengeance. If you’re a rose fan, you might find something different; for me, who hates roses, it was nice but that’s all. Pleasant: 6/10, Interesting: 5/10, Versatile: 7/10, Original: 3/10.
I was lucky enough to try French Leather by Memo Paris, and wow, this perfume is amazing—I absolutely loved it. The opening features a sparkling, sharp lime that reminded me of a caipirinha cocktail, probably due to the lime. Leather is present but doesn’t dominate at first. As it dries down, the leather and rose become more noticeable, though the citrus lingers in the background and the lime never disappears. It’s mind-blowing; I’ve never heard anything like it before, and I’d definitely buy it. I disagree with the idea that it’s primarily a rose scent; the rose is there, but it’s not the top note. I’d describe it as citrusy and animalic. As for sillage, projection, and longevity, I tested it on paper three hours ago and it still smells strong, so the lasting power must be excellent. I feel it’s totally unisex and would wear it in the late afternoon or evening in almost any weather.
I tried Memo Paris French Leather and I loved it. At first, the lime takes center stage: sparkling, sharp, like a caipirinha, with leather that doesn’t stand out until it dries. Then the rose and leather gain strength, but the lime lingers in the background. It’s mind-blowing; I’ve never heard anything like it. I’d describe it as citrusy/animalic. I’m not sure about the longevity since I tested it on paper, but after 3 hours it still smelled strong, so it must be good. I feel it’s totally unisex, ideal for evening or night in any weather.
Spiced rose with leather that emerges in the heart. Women usually like it, but I’d wear it without hesitation, and any elegant man would pull it off too. I tested the 2ml sample. Niche quality, but the longevity fails: very weak for the price, what a shame.
A rose, musk, and spice fragrance. I like it, but it’s not surprising. Pleasant? Yes. Value for money? Very poor. That’s all.
French Leather is a rose that doesn’t need to shout: polite, fresh, clean, and classy. Velvety, dry notes sit atop a creamy base of suede and musk. It opens with citrus and pepper, a subtle metallic touch that fades quickly. Versatile and elegant, perfect as a signature scent.
