I wanted to try it so much but was afraid it might be identical to Gris Charnel. And I say yes but no. To be honest, I wouldn’t buy it because 1) even though they aren’t identical, they evoke the same feeling and I’d use them for the same occasions, and 2) Gris Charnel lasts much longer on my skin. But look, I really liked it. It’s wood, a creamy sandalwood with a gorgeous iris; on my skin, the iris comes out powdery and turns buttery as it dries. It’s soft, delicate, and very well-balanced. The big difference is that I don’t detect any spice here. It smells warm, comforting, and is 100% unisex. Ideal for autumn and winter, though it can be worn year-round. It makes me especially want to wear it on cloudy or rainy days. It lasts about 8 hours, but projection and sillage are moderate after the first two hours. I stop noticing it after four, though I know it works better for others. If I didn’t have Gris Charnel, I’d probably buy this, but owning both seems unnecessary.
I absolutely loved this fragrance. I feel it’s more masculine, or at least it’s a scent I prefer on men. At first, it smells herbal, reminding me of when I was a girl and my mother boiled eucalyptus to soothe my cough; it brings back good memories. I sense it’s a countryside fragrance but with class. I also detect spicy, smoky, and heavily woody notes as it dries down. It’s a great choice for autumn and winter. If I had to paint it, I’d imagine a man in a cabin by a wood stove drinking red wine on a winter day; that’s the perfect mood.
It’s a creamy sandalwood, the classic one that’s been copied a thousand times. If you already own others with this base, skip it; it adds nothing new. But if you’re looking to feel that rich wood as the star, it could be yours. To me, it smells like sandalwood with a very subtle green, dry touch. Good scent, but in my collection, it’s dispensable. Unisex, with a slight masculine lean, very versatile and elegant. Not for sports. Works in any weather. Rating: 7.5. Longevity: 7 hours. Sillage: 7. Price: 255 euros/100ml.
This Memo smells absolutely top-tier, elegant, and hits every mark. It lasts incredibly long on my skin and projects well; plus, it’s a beast compared to BDK’s Gris Charnel—it lasts longer and is cheaper. Top quality, one of the best I’ve tried from the brand, and you can tell it’s a serious perfume.
