Oriental Leather by Memo Paris is a fragrance from the leather family, created for men and women. Launched in 2019, this composition was designed by perfumer Alienor Massenet. At the top, the fragrance unfolds with raspberry, black pepper leaf, and lemon verbena; in the heart, cinnamon, geranium, and lavender; and on the base, patchouli, olibanum incense (frankincense), and leather.

Oriental Leather kicks off with a potent, liquor-like punch that hits you straight in the olfactory senses. I tested it on both my husband and myself, and the opening was identical: a strong, masculine liquor with a vintage touch. After a few minutes, the scent evolves differently on each of us. On him, it softens until it’s almost imperceptible at arm’s length, with a creamy finish—literally, his skin pH ate it up. On me, however, gorgeous flowers bloom, seasoned with balanced and delicious spices. At times, it reminds me of Opium, though while that one smells dirty and sexual, this one just projects flirtatious charm. It’s quite unisex: very attractive and sensual on men, while conveying confidence and beauty on women. The downside is the weak projection; if you have dry skin, you’ll need to be very close to smell it. Perfect for an intimate vibe and autumn or cold weather.
