There’s some confusion about this perfume. I know because Darkbeat, the expert on oriental fragrances, tipped me off. The box shown says ‘For ever,’ but mine, with the same design, says ‘Forever.’ As Darkbeat noted, Al Haramain’s website lists different notes for ‘Forever’: Top: Ylang Ylang, bergamot, and blackcurrant; Heart: orchid, fruity notes, and lotus wood; Base: patchouli, incense, and sandalwood. No wonder the mix-up happened—a creamy, sweet ylang-ylang dominates, smelling very much like coconut. It smells like food. The sweetness comes from the blackcurrant, which I can detect clearly. I’d love it if not for the heaviness of the incense and a bit of sandalwood. It’s ‘too’ oriental for my European nose. Discovering it was a love-hate experience. I love that fake coconut; it lasts long and projects well with just a few sprays. But soon, the souk-like scent overwhelms and bores me. It’s one I’ll keep using, but sparingly.
Starts with a spicy, cinnamon-like note that softens into a floral and fruity finish with a tropical dry-down. The woody base—especially sandalwood, patchouli, and incense—is very prominent. Once it settles, it leaves a woody ylang-ylang, creamy and reminiscent of coconut perfumes. It blends with something softer and aquatic, which I assume is lotus. Longevity and projection are gift-worthy. I see this as a mid-season scent or for warm summer nights; it leans feminine (though a confident man could wear it). That creaminess reminds me of Zoologist’s Chameleon, but this smells different and feels less forced—I love Chameleon, while this one seems generic and boring. It smells like food, yes, but I’m not buying it. Pleasantness: 6/10 Interesting: 8/10 Versatility: 7/10 Originality: 8/10
