If Black Orchid feels heavy to you but you like it, this is for you. Being lighter gives it more versatility and could make it your signature. But watch out, it will always be in Black Orchid’s shadow.
If Black Orchid feels heavy to you but you like it, this one is for you. Being lighter gives it more versatility and could make it your signature. But watch out, it will always live in the shadow of Tom Ford.
It’s a soft floral with rose and violet, a vanilla base, and a touch of patchouli. It doesn’t smell like YSL Paris like I expected; here it’s less powdery and more resinous. I think it’s very wearable and pretty. At first, it reminds me of Tom Ford’s Orchid family, but when tested side by side, they’re different: Flower Fusion is more floral and soft, while Velvet is more intense and sweet, and Black is deeper and chocolatey. This is like an EDT version without Velvet’s honey or Black’s truffle. The trail is soft and lasts 5-6 hours. The downside is the projection, which is low on my skin, so I have to apply a lot. At this price, it shouldn’t happen, though I bought it super cheap. The packaging, as always with El Mercader, is a marvel. Scent: 7/10 Longevity: 5.5/10 Sillage: 4/10 Value for money: 4.5/10 Versatility: 6.5/10 Packaging: 9/10 Would I buy again? Yes, if I find it on sale.

I tried this brand for a couple of months, and while none of them made me cringe, Flower Fusion is just not my thing. At first, it smells like Tom Ford’s Velvet Orchid thanks to that super-sweet bourbon vanilla, but later it turns into a pink-patchouli floral. In the end, it settles as a fresh bouquet with a rounder vanilla note from the opoponax. It lasted about 8 hours and projected well. I see it as ideal for cool days, whether going out or dinner. It’s gorgeous and skin-deep, though my partner and brother say it smells like grandma because of the florals. Externally, the bottles are works of art and the packaging is top-notch; at this price, it’s a great gift. Pleasantness: 7/10 Interesting: 7/10 Versatility: 6/10 Originality: 6/10
I spent a couple of months testing this brand, and while none made me gag, Flower Fusion is one I just don’t get.
