It’s a perfume I neither like nor dislike. Very overhyped with all the hype it has. The name is even misleading because it’s really a scent that, apart from the slightly fruity opening, is cocoa and dark woods, no vanilla at all. At one point it even smelled like burnt rubber to me from how dark it can get. What I liked is that slight dark chocolate touch it has and that it’s a perfume that performs well in terms of longevity. Unfortunately, that’s about it for the things I liked. Try before you buy.

It arrived today and I’ve had it sprayed on the back of my hand for about 4 hours… I find it quite masculine, woody, barely sweet and dark, it has a scent I had smelled before and after thinking so much I finally realized which fragrance it resembles… Benetton Colors Black Intenso, they smell very much alike maybe 90%, this one is a touch sweeter, more chocolatey and even darker than the Benetton one but the scent is very similar, that’s not a problem because I love both Benetton Blacks, the regular and the Intenso, only I thought that by the name the vanilla would stand out more… well its sister also fooled us with the name because Eternal Oud has almost nothing if not nothing of Oud… still I liked it… I need to let it oxygenate for a couple of weeks to see how it develops over time… but at first impression, very good…

They blind-tested it and I swore it was Boss Selection Absolute (or something from The Scent with steroids), but nope, it’s Lattafa pulling its usual stunts. The website says unisex, but it vibes like modern commercial masculinity. It’s not rough or classic; it’s prefabricated for nightlife. It tries to be sweet with the vanilla but turns aggressive with the Akigalawood, stripping away any feminine delicacy. Perfect for guys aged 21 to 39. For cold nights, it lasts 8 to 10 hours as a beast with linear performance. It doesn’t evolve much; what you smell at 20 minutes is what you’ll have six hours later. It’s not subtle, with high projection for the first 2.5 hours and moderate-high projection afterward, creating an aggressive personal bubble of 1.5 to 2 meters initially. Six sprays to go ‘loaded’ but not invasive. Serious question: do women like it? Yes, but there’s a ‘but’. It doesn’t spark intellectual curiosity. It’s an easy hook. It attracts because it’s familiar and comforting, not because it’s unique or artistic. It’s the equivalent of a well-made pop song: liked by almost everyone, but it doesn’t enchant anyone with refined taste. Designed to please the masses and last forever. It lacks soul and perceptible natural ingredients, but it fulfills its function of projecting an impeccable image of a sophisticated, nocturnal man. It’s an effective ‘night uniform’, but devoid of its own personality.
