I tested this fragrance on my skin and here’s the deal: it’s my first review, so forgive me if I can’t distinguish the notes well. It’s a very clean, soapy, and fresh ‘Essence’, but dry—not creamy or fruity. Nothing like the power of the classic 80s version. This ‘Sport’ version keeps the house’s elegance but is more informal and youthful; it’s almost a different scent. It starts citrusy with a touch of mandarin, and after about 3 hours, it leaves a soft aftershave-like base. Perfect for daily wear, light, and discreet. Some might find it lacks intensity, but it has good fixation. Although they’re not comparable, I still think Loewe Pour Homme is the star of the house.
I really liked Loewe Esencia Sport. I totally agree with Baxter, who said almost everything (except that I did feel it’s not creamy; it has a different texture). Two additions: 1) Due to the mandarin or shared notes like pepper and amber, it sometimes smells similar to Allure Homme Sport. 2) It’s the most docile and versatile fragrance in the brand. Sillage and longevity: moderate.
A delight for summer or sport aromas. They aren’t those super-citrusy, childish sports scents nor the serious ones; it’s a mix of both that works great, highly recommended. You can smell the pepper and amber, and more than bergamot, it seems like lime.
To start, Esencia Sport has nothing to do with the ‘classic’. The fragrance seemed very pleasant, fresh, soft, and tender, yet masculine. I won’t repeat much because Baxter already described everything, but even though it’s the Sport version, it moves away from the aquatic vibe I associate with that style; it is indeed lighter than the original and has certain 90s elements with a modern, youthful touch. The ‘but’ is that, like the original, its longevity and projection on my skin were very short.
Let me start by saying Esencia Sport doesn’t resemble the classic Essence at all. The fragrance seemed very pleasant, fresh, soft, even tender, yet masculine. I won’t add much since Baxter already wrote a complete review, but as a sport version, it steers away from the aquatic vibes I associate with that term. Although it’s lighter than the original, it contains 90s elements with a modern, youthful touch. The ‘but’ is that, just like the original, its longevity and projection were very short on my skin.
I agree with all previous reviews; I almost hesitate to write another. Just to add: as a lover of the ‘masculinized’ geranium note (I know that’s hyperbolic, but bear with me), I think it’s great how it’s presented in this fragrance. Its weak points are the brand’s high prices and the current trend of medium-to-low longevity and projection. Within this family (Essence), it’s the one I like the most.
I agree with all the previous reviews, which almost dissuaded me from writing another. I just want to add one thing: as a lover of the geranium note handled ‘masculinely’, I love how it appears in this fragrance. Its weak point is the brand’s high prices and today’s general trend: medium to low longevity and projection. Within this family, Esencia is the one I like the most.
It seemed to smell like the person wearing it. It doesn’t smell bad, but it gives the impression of wearing accords (I imagine cheap and synthetic ones) that you can detect in other fresh fragrances. A neutral sensation, far from the high-end perfumery image some sell.
It starts strong and concentrated, almost smelling like common soap, then mellows to reveal a dry-down reminiscent of Bulgari Man; they are very similar, with only a subtle difference: this Loewe has a sharper citrus touch. The only perceptible difference is the opening: the Loewe is concentrated, potent citrus (to the point of being unpleasant), while Bulgari is linear, calm, and soft, just like its dry-down. I find this Loewe interesting—a good, original summer proposal, far from typical summer perfumes. I see it as versatile for any occasion and believe it’s the youthful version of the classic Esencia Sport (which I don’t see much of).
Extremely fresh, almost cold, like those Halls ads where the polar air slaps you in the face when you drop a candy. Nothing sweet, almost no fruit notes. Excellent for extending that post-shower freshness, super masculine, one of my new favorites. P.S.: Very similar to Kenzo Homme Sport; both are fresher, incense-free variants compared to Bleu de Chanel.
Extremely fresh, almost cold, like the polar air from Halls that surprises you—nothing sweet, almost no fruit. Perfect for extending the post-shower feeling, very masculine, and one of my new favorites. P.S.: Very similar to Kenzo Homme Sport; both are fresher versions without the incense found in Bleu de Chanel.
Esencia Sport opens with unlisted aromatic herbs, well-blended with mild, tamed citrus, lacking the sharp character I usually love. After five minutes, the star emerges and carries the scent until its death: a geranium with a very marked mentholated facet, creamy, with rose nuances. It doesn’t evolve much beyond becoming slightly sweet and musky. Although floral and creamy, it smells very masculine, like quality shaving creams. The trail and projection are moderate to low, but it surprises with good longevity. The new EDP of CK Eternity reminds me a lot of this Loewe: beautiful fragrances, but they bore me.
Unbearable in the heat, but in cold weather, it’s an absolute attraction bomb.
I’ve had bad luck with ‘sport’ scents; I always expect more and they don’t meet my standards. I bought this because people said it was identical to S.Dali Le Roy Soleil, but wearing both on my wrist, there’s zero resemblance. Who compared them? Probably someone with a cold nose. On the plus side, it smells classic and dusty, like Lomani El Paso. I won’t call it generic—it has facets of Givenchy Gentleman Only and Bulgari Man. I’m 100% sticking with Loewe Man Essence, the first bottle with the green cap and gold lid: powerful, untamed, fougère, wet forest, and damp leafy earth.
I’m obsessed with the citrus opening; it’s super fresh. Throughout the day, it evolves into a floral scent with an almost imperceptible hint of pepper. Perfect for everyday casual wear. It’s not Loewe’s best, but it earns a solid 7.5.
