I was tempted to buy it, but my bad experiences with Christian Carbonell—regardless of the brand—hold me back. I’ll think about it and edit the review later.
It’s curious that people say the performance is poor when, out of 400 votes, the majority approve of the longevity and projection. Maybe it’s just olfactory fatigue. To me, it’s good, fits my style, and performs well.
This is my first review. Yesterday I tested this fragrance from a decant and agree it smells like Nasomatto’s Black Afgano, but the performance on my skin isn’t what they claim. I woke up this morning and it still smelled after just 6 sprays. It needs to be tested on different occasions. At one point I noticed ambroxan, not sharp but wearable. It’s elegant and delivers. Rating: 8.5/10.
First off, I don’t understand how people rate this similar to Micallef’s Royal Vintage, which is similar to Aventus. It seems some vote based on listed notes and draw random conclusions. For me, it’s a total letdown: it smells like Black Afgano mixed with The One, but on my skin the projection is almost non-existent. It fades to skin-level in minutes. Completely dispensable and its price is unjustifiable.
I agree with the previous reviewer: the performance is way too poor for what the notes promise. A miss for Xerjoff. Totally unadvisable to buy.
A fragrance that starts with just a hint of alcohol, then reveals a smoky touch with dry powder undertones before closing sweet. It reminded me a lot of Orto Parisi’s Bocanera. Both smell good, but they share the same mediocrity: they lack power and projection. With the notes, you might imagine something like Iron Duke, but Don has the power of a hearing aid versus that 10,000-watt system. I’m subjective, but I’m disappointed by this expensive perfume—not the scent, but the performance, which is lower than many designer brands. Scent 8/10, Trail 4/10, Longevity 4/10, Projection 3/10.
