Detour Noir Exclusif is an excellent clone of Parfums de Marly’s Layton Exclusif, giving us an original and well-crafted aromatic profile for a fraction of the price. It opens with citrus and almond notes, then reveals something ‘opulent,’ ‘elegant,’ and ‘sophisticated’ over time. We move from a citrus base to a woody-animalic opulence with oud, civet, patchouli, vanilla, and sandalwood. Price-to-quality ratio is magnificent; one of the most affordable offerings from this Arab house. Outstanding performance: about 10 hours on skin with 3-4 hours of projection. Excellent for those seeking originality and presence, a true marvel for cold nights.
If you’re looking for Layton Exclusif at a friend’s price, look no further. It’s undetectable.
Before judging, I tested Layton Exclusif and Detour Noir Exclusif on skin and blotter. The similarity is high, and while the Arabic one lasts a bit longer, Layton beats it in harmony, smoothness, and composition. Important note: you won’t find that soft earthy, animalic side that Layton has. This one is cleaner and less dark. In short, it’s a VERY good approximation to the original; if you can’t or don’t want to pay for the real thing, you’ll smell almost identical for a fraction of the price.

It’s a scent not for everyone, better to test before spending. I absolutely love it; it has a complex aroma that doesn’t please everybody. You need to know when and how to wear it—you need personality, confidence, and character. If you have that, you’ll love it. As for whether it resembles Layton Exclusif, yes, about 92% similarity, I’ve heard and compared it. Like with Detour Noir, I’ll let it sit for a month to see if it improves and grows on me. I wore it to work today; although I didn’t get compliments, I felt great in that scent and projected well. In the end, it’s important to have fragrances you like and that make you feel good; compliments are secondary, but they matter too, because you’re not alone in this world.
