If you’re looking for a bomb projection or something to turn heads, this isn’t for you. But if you appreciate artistic, evolving fragrances, give it a shot. Honestly, only two notes win me over: the leather at the start and the musk later on (there are florals, but I can’t pinpoint which ones). In between, it smells like everything at once—impossible to define. The truth is, it’s constantly changing; the opening scent isn’t what you get at four hours. It smells clean, soft, like caresses and tranquility. I’m not sure if those adjectives mean much, but that’s how it feels to me. The longevity is just right, about six hours, with the last traces barely clinging to the skin. Even when applied heavily, it struggles to last; I think it’s not made to endure, but to be experienced, like an intimate act. All in all, I find it exquisite—not for everyone, versatile, and rooted in 80s perfumery before Le Male.

Out of all the fragrances from this French niche house, this is my favorite. It’s a gentle scent with a romantic personality, a just-right sweetness that invites sensuality. It has harmony and a youthful character. It’s totally unisex: it gives women a sexy vibe and men an intellectual one. The opening is strong, featuring ethereal vanilla and leather mixed with bulbous florals, evoking a freshly cleaned luxury salon. It’s very versatile, working for day and night while maintaining that gentle, seductive character without losing its youthful spirit. Watch out: don’t buy it blindly. This niche house often uses chemical components that make the aroma vary significantly on each skin. Better to test it first. A sensual and very warm perfume.

Darkbeat presents this Etat Libre d’Orange proposal with a haunting name. It’s very floral and sweet at first, resembling a modern take on something from the 70s or 80s, with surprisingly well-executed leather and animal notes. It could be the child of Lagerfeld Classic, less aldehydic and cloyingly sweet, with acceptable longevity and average projection. It evolves a lot; it starts odd and transforms into a more pleasant mix over time. It’s an unusual, ambitious, and high-quality proposal. Perhaps too flashy for daytime, but intriguing and attractive for nighttime if you dare to wear it. Undoubtedly, it’s different.

It’s a perfume I really like right out of the bottle—perfect for leather lovers. However, once it dries down, I’m not entirely fond of the ambrette musk; it gives me a slight cringe, perhaps too animalistic for my taste, even though it smells good overall. It’s just my personal preference, since I’m looking for something less animalic in the summer. It’s a masculine scent, ideal for autumn and winter, geared toward men of middle age and up, and perfect for spraying on leather jackets and bomber coats.
