I tried it on a friend’s recommendation to see if it was worth buying. I never imagined its notes would be so common in men’s fragrances I love, yet it’s purely feminine and has that winter consistency known as strength. I don’t sense the anise or citrus (at least not on blotter); what dominates is jasmine, cardamomo, and a touch of cinnamon. In the dry-down, the base notes appear: sandalwood, amber, and patchouli. If you ask me, it has only two levels in its pyramid, but I don’t want to close my mouth; let others try it. Regarding its potency, I envy nothing about the strongest scents from Etat Libre d’Orange or Costume National Homme (which I owned and discarded because I felt it was ideal for women besides being strong). In summary, it’s a beautiful and strong fragrance, a ‘María Félix’ of the olfactory world, but it doesn’t beat that rich, feminine gourmand called Pure eVe (aka Pure Virgin). PS: I always struggle to identify citrus in women’s scents; consider that in my opinion.
I tried it today on a friend’s recommendation to see if it was worth it. I never imagined its notes would be these—ingredients very common lately in men’s fragrances I love—but it’s undeniably feminine and has a winter consistency, almost with ‘strength.’ On blotter, I don’t detect the anise or citrus; what dominates is jasmine and cardamomo (maybe a hint of cinnamon). In the dry-down, the base notes emerge: sandalwood, amber, and patchouli. If asked, I’d say it only has two levels in its pyramid, but I don’t want to be definitive; let others try it. Given its ‘consistency,’ I envy nothing about the stronger scents from Etat Libre d’Orange or Costume National Homme (which I owned and threw away because I felt it was ideal for women besides being powerful). In short, it’s a beautiful and strong fragrance, a ‘María Félix’ of the olfactory world, but it doesn’t surpass that rich, feminine gourmand called Pure eVe (aka Pure Virgin). PS: I always struggle to identify citrus in women’s scents; consider that factor.
Second time with Different Company, and now it’s Jazmin de Nuit’s turn. A soft, springtime fragrance for sunny days. It opens with well-balanced star anise and the citrus of bergamot; together they create a pleasant aroma. I only perceive cardamomo in the heart, with sandalwood in the background, especially the patchouli. Its trail is moderate, and projection doesn’t last more than two hours; after that, it stays close to the skin. It’s unisex but leans more feminine. As I said, it’s ideal for spring mornings and afternoons; I don’t advise it for night because it lacks overwhelming power. Several people said it was sweet, but my humble take is that I don’t see it as sweet, but rather spiced. In my opinion, it works well for casual encounters but not for formalities. Finally, I must highlight that both Jazmin de Nuit and Oriental Lounge (which I reviewed before) reveal their potential in spring; if you test them in summer, fall, or winter, they just don’t work the same way.
Second stop at Different Company: it’s Jazmin de Nuit. A soft, springtime fragrance perfect for sunny days. Star anise and bergamot balance beautifully, creating a pleasant scent. I only detect cardamomo in the heart, with sandalwood and especially patchouli in the base. The trail is moderate, projecting for about two hours before settling close to the skin. It’s unisex but leans feminine. As I mentioned, it’s ideal for spring mornings and afternoons; I wouldn’t recommend it for night due to lack of potency. Some found it sweet, but to me it smells spiced, not sugary. In my opinion, it’s great for casual meetups but not formal events. I must highlight that both Jazmin de Nuit and Oriental Lounge (which I reviewed earlier) shine in spring; tested in summer, fall, or winter, they just don’t show that same potential.
