  • I just added it to my collection, and it’s a mix between Petite Chérie and Grand Amour. At first, it smells of sweet pear (more intense than the Petite), and after a few seconds, the Turkish rose appears, dominating everything and keeping the pear in the background. The base doesn’t win me over; on my skin, it stops smelling like rose and turns into honey (I don’t know if it officially has it, it has many secrets, but I swear it smells like that).

  • Ce Soir ou Jamais (This Night or Never). There are loves that come late, and that’s what happened with this olfactory beauty that carries a name worthy of its fragrance. There is no ‘after’ with this tender, natural scent; you live it now, or tomorrow it might be too late. Its scent begins with an avalanche of roses, and over time, a garden full of other very tender flowers appears, until you perceive a citrus leaf scent adorning the whole. It’s a dream perfume, but its beauty doesn’t last long, just like youth. An aroma that in another era would have been one of my favorites, but it’s not anymore.

  • ‘This Night or Never’ is a beautiful phrase with a strong emotional impact. It’s no surprise Annick worked on this essence for over 10 years, the scent she dreamed of since childhood: the union of pear and rose. Isabelle Doyen even visited her in her final months to make this dream a reality. The phrase and the emotional weight surprised me. Upon application, a juicy, metallic, rich pear reveals a glimpse of dusty rose with green tints. It’s a red rose growing strong in this fruit-floral metamorphosis; the fruit’s sweetness never leaves. The green tints make you feel the leaf, the stem, the calyx. Only here, at that green point, does it compare to Perfumer’s Workshop’s Tea Rose from the 70s. Then, the green notes calm down and the fruity rose gains oriental touches; the ambrette and amber sparkle, intensifying the magic. The ambrette gives that Turkish Red Rose sensation, full of nuances, with wine tints, intoxicating and seductive, sometimes vintage. The amber adds the necessary warmth. This EDT lasts just enough; watching its stages is mysterious and fun. For rose lovers, I totally recommend this. Life is like this: now or never.

‘Rustic’ was the first thing I thought when I smelled it, but not just any rustic, bucolic and from another era. I imagine the protagonists of Jane Austen smelling this, with an initial explosion of pear followed by wild roses with stem, leaves, and thorns. It also reminded me of the scented sachets my grandmother kept in her drawers that I adored. It’s an extremely feminine, delicate, and very Goutal fragrance: simple and pretty, like a classic eau de cologne but with better longevity, sillage, and a price that’s insane.

At first sniff, I thought ‘rustic,’ but of an earlier era, bucolic. I imagine Jane Austen characters wearing Ce Soir ou Jamais; the name doesn’t fit that initial explosion of pear that later gives way to wild roses, complete with stem, leaves, and thorns. It reminded me of the scented sachets my grandmother kept in her drawers that I adored. It’s like a box of carefully preserved pressed flowers. Extremely feminine, delicate, and very Goutal: a simple, lovely fragrance, like a classic cologne but with better longevity, sillage, and a price that’s insane.

  • I loved smelling it on the blotter, but when I sprayed it on my skin, nothing… The hibiscus dominated everything, and it took hours to notice anything resembling the box description. I tested it on a friend, and on her skin, it was divine; that’s when I understood why they recommended it as a fresh rose. What a pity we didn’t get along… I let it go because I didn’t like it on me. Now I have Le Chevrefeuille, which I’m already loving a lot!

  • I loved smelling it on the blotter, but when I sprayed it on my skin, I didn’t like it at all. The hibiscus stood out a lot, and only after many hours did I find something resembling the blotter. I tested it on a friend, and on her skin, it smelled wonderful, like a bouquet of fresh roses. What a pity we didn’t get along… I let it go because I didn’t like it on me. In its place came Le Chevrefeuille, which I’m getting to know but I already love a lot.

  • Ce soir ou jamais is brutal. Upon touching the skin, it smells of dew-kissed roses. Over time, it evolves into something fruity and juicy with a touch of talc. The rose darkens and stays well-fixed without being overwhelming. I confess that for me, it’s not just the scent but the name: ‘This Night or Never’…

  • Ce soir ou jamais is intense. Right after applying it, it smells like freshly wet roses. Over time, it evolves into something fruity and juicy with a touch of talc. The rose darkens, lasts all day, and doesn’t overpower. I have to admit, I love it so much for both the scent and the name: ‘This Night or Never’.
