Carlo Corinto Rouge smells delightful and lasts about 8 hours: it starts with a heavy trail that quickly drops to moderate and stays that way until the end, then fades to skin scent. After two hours, its evolution gives me a déjà vu of Davidoff’s Cool Water. I consider it for semi-formal evening events, though it might shine more in autumn.
I didn’t like it much. It leaves a penetrating lavender aroma on my skin, which is the main note, and it doesn’t feel harmonious to me. I suppose JEUSRP reminded him of Cool Water because of the lavender, but to me, the latter smells more balanced and pleasant.
I tried it a while back and don’t remember it well, so I guess it’s not extraordinary, but I’d love to smell it again to refresh my memory; maybe I’ll change my mind and buy it.
Carlo Corinto Rouge is a fresh, aromatic woodsy scent. It starts strong and masculine with lavender and aquatic notes, slightly synthetic. Then spicy touches of pepper and tobacco emerge, settling into wood. I didn’t detect any vanilla or apple. Like JEUSRP, I think it smells like Davidoff’s Cool Water, almost a clone, but I see it as a daytime scent for spring or summer. The dark bottle and the name ‘Rouge’ suggested something warm, but it’s actually fresh. Like the Classic, which is my favorite from the brand, Rouge is a solid choice.
I just bought it for my boyfriend, and out of all the fragrances, it was the one that caught his attention almost immediately. My first impression was amazing; indeed, it smells like lavender, but as that note fades, other very masculine notes remain, and when they mix with his skin, they create a natural and not overpowering aroma, which I loved. The only thing I didn’t like is that it smells a lot like Elvive Men shampoo, but I’d still like him to wear it for a while, although I don’t think it’s his ideal perfume.
It’s incredible how time passes and how this fragrance has earned me more compliments than a few others I can remember. I own Creed Green Irish Tweed, and by god, they smell very similar, but Creed, with its price tag, hasn’t given me as much satisfaction as this. It’s one of those fragrances I see accompanying me forever. Plus, it was the first one my parents gave me when I was a kid. Excellent, fresh, and reliable! INCREDIBLE.
It’s incredible how the years pass and this fragrance has given me more compliments than few others I can remember. I own Creed Green Irish Tweed, and by god, they smell very similar, but Creed with its price hasn’t given me as much satisfaction as this. It’s one of those fragrances that will always be with me, besides being the first one my parents gave me when I was a child. Excellent, fresh, and reliable: incredible!
Without a doubt, it’s perfect for going to the beach in the afternoon facing the sea; it’s simple, rich, with a cheerful green scent, slightly salty and earthy. Its only flaw is that it doesn’t last as long as the original Carlo. It’s similar to Davidoff’s Cool Water, pleasant, and was one of my first perfumes. A classic!
Masculine, executive, and distinguished. I bought the 400 ml presentation, I really liked it, although I never bought it again. However, it’s really worth the money.
It’s a bit like Davidoff’s Cool Water; I took a while to realize it, but it’s true. It’s like Cool Water but greener, with hints of cinnamon in the dry down. You can definitely detect galbanum; it’s not an original scent, but it’s effective. It won’t get you many compliments, but it’s very versatile and worth cataloging as your signature scent for the price.
THE OLD MAN WITH YOUNG BLOOD: Honestly, I think my mind might be playing a dirty trick on me, but I remember this older fragrance from at least 1997, maybe 7 years ago. It has a fresh, distinguished touch, very sophisticated in the 90s and still relevant today. The notes are easy to spot: LAVENDER! If you like it, I don’t think there’s a scent with as much lavender as this, a classic from Carlo Corinto. The rest is a soft spicy touch with a subtle fruity note that balances the freshness and gives a clean sensation. After several hours, if you have a refined sense of smell, you’ll notice the woods shared with the Classic. It has an uncomplicated character, a clean and neat aroma with good longevity. It’s a versatile classic, good for almost all seasons and climates, though it shines more during the day at moderate temperatures. It also stands out in the office with a fresh vibe. The fixative performs well; with the right pH, it lasts over 6 hours. I’d recommend using it more in casual settings, though it shines in formal offices too. Moderate and cool temperatures are its best allies; it’s for day or night use. Personally, I’ve seen it on both young and old people, but it seems more wearable on those closer to 30 and older. It’s proof that there are veterans with plenty of life ahead and that well-made formulas are timeless. Recommended sprays: 6 to 8. Fixative: 8. Sillage: Moderate. Intensity: Medium.
EL VIEJO CON SANGRE JOVEN: I think my mind is playing tricks on me, but I remember this fragrance from before 1997, about seven years earlier. It has a fresh and distinguished touch, very sophisticated in the 90s and still relevant today. The main note is lavender, classic for Carlo Corinto, with soft spices and a fruity touch that balances the freshness and gives a clean sensation. Over time, you notice some shared woodiness with Carlo Corinto Classic. It’s a clean, neat aroma with good fixative properties, versatile for almost all seasons, though it shines more on cool days or in the office with low temperatures. It can last over six hours if your pH is suitable. I recommend it for casual or formal settings, ideal for day or night, especially for people 30 and up. Proof that well-made formulas are timeless. Recommended sprays: 6 to 8. Fixative: 8/10. Sillage: Moderate. Intensity: Medium.
It was my first ‘expensive’ perfume, bought in high school when I already had a job; no one in my class wore scents like that. It’s very versatile, I bought it three times and even the half-liter version, which lasted me three years. I use it generously, it smells great, projects for about six hours, and is ideal for spring, fall, and rainy days. Great perfume, I totally recommend it!
It was my first ‘expensive’ perfume in high school; I was already working and treating myself. Nobody wore it like that in my class; it’s very versatile. I bought it three times, even the half-liter bottle… the last one lasted me 3 years. I wore it liberally, it smells great and projects for about 6 hours. Ideal for spring, autumn, and rainy days. Great perfume! Would I recommend it? Absolutely!
The opening of Davidoff’s Cool Water is clear, but it evolves down a different path until it ends up being animalic, ambered, peppery, and with that Virginia oak that makes it delicious.
Longevity, sillage, and projection are terrible; on my skin it doesn’t last more than two hours. It’s from the 2023 batch and smells good, similar to Davidoff’s Cool Water and Aspen’s A Coty, but this one falls short and has an interesting spicy touch. Despite the pleasant aroma, I wouldn’t buy it again due to its short life.
Smells good, fresh, and has that vintage touch reminiscent of Cool Water and a bit of Animale, but the longevity is short, under two hours, and projection drops after the first hour. I bought it cheap at around $35, though here in Mexico it usually costs over $50, and for that price there are better options. It’s strange that it says it macerates in Mexico but doesn’t appear in Carlo Corinto’s records, a French brand. If you can grab it for under $25, it’s worth it, but I’m still doubtful about its origin. If you’re looking for something similar with better performance, try L’BEL Bleu Intense.
Mixed feelings: smells fresh and vintage, with notes reminiscent of Cool Water, Aqua Quorum, and a touch of Animale. However, the longevity is very low for me, lasting less than two hours; projection is moderate at first but then fades to skin scent. The atomizer is stingy, almost mediocre. I bought it for just under $35, but here in Mexico it usually sells for over $50. At that price, I think there are better alternatives. Curiously, it seems to be ‘made’ in Mexico, even though they only mention maceration and bottling there. I tried to research the batch, but Carlo Corinto doesn’t appear in the records, despite being a well-known French brand. In summary, the scent isn’t bad, but the performance disappoints. I’d only recommend it if you find it for under $20 or $25. I didn’t like it due to the lack of clarity about its origin. As an alternative, blindfolded, I’d try L’BEL Bleu Intense: more reasonable price, similar scent, and perhaps better performance. P.S. Their Instagram and website seem to be solely for the Mexican market, with no international presence.
