  I tried this perfume and I have to say it’s the most mass-appealing scent in the entire brand, and I’m not saying that negatively. It’s clearly designed to cater to current tastes, which is why it’s not too distinctive or surprising. The previous ones are a bit more austere and lean more towards green notes: green-spicy, green-smoky, with less of a Tumbsucker vibe since that one is gourmand and very honeyed. For my personal taste, I’d stick with Silphium, Mistpouffer, or Moonmilk. I detect quite a bit of blood orange in the opening, which over time evolves into a fruity/sweet/ambery drydown. It’s not really my style, but it’s well-made, very balanced, with no single component overpowering the others. It’s made to please. I’d also add that it doesn’t cause olfactory fatigue early on or fade faster than other scents from the brand.

  Hello Fragrantica: The ‘nuts’ note is mistranslated; it should be ‘dried fruit’ 🙂 That’s exactly what Azalai smells like—a slightly sharp amber due to the saffron, but where the bazaar-style dried fruits stand out above all. Sweet, ‘exotic’ (toned down for a European nose, don’t be alarmed), evocative, and very wearable. Hoping for autumn to start so I can wear the 2 ml sample I have in hand and decide if it deserves a bottle (hopefully it does, because the bottle is divine, like all of Stora Skuggan’s).
