Old Thierry Mugler fragrances were all about art, and this one is too. It’s a total amber journey. The cardamom and cilantro in the top notes don’t show up on my skin. It’s a cozy, discreet amber, slightly sweet, with very soft suede over a balanced, elegant oud base. A perfect potion for autumn and everyday wear, with no ambition other than wrapping you up like a pretty silk scarf. Projection is moderate for the first four hours, then it settles close to the skin, but it’s very long-lasting; you can feel it moving with you for about eight hours. For an old-school Mugler, the projection is quite subtle, but it’s a very pleasant scent; that mix of amber, suede, and oud makes it sensual and alluring.

I woke up to the ‘magic little mirror’ from its nap; the box is a top-quality mirror sarcophagus, and the heavy bottle with its metal line looks flawless after three years—no wear at all. I know they come for the juice, but I couldn’t ignore packaging like this. The perfume opens with spiced jasmine over a bed of golden amber, then the sleepy oud timidly joins with orange blossom and suede, creating a harmonious unisex blend. I wouldn’t recommend it blindly, but if you catch it, you’re lucky since it’s discontinued. Don’t fear it being an uncontrollable ‘Mugler beast’; this oud behaves itself and doesn’t overwhelm anyone. It has some familiar dry-down vibes with Alien Oud Majestueux but with better performance and projection. A little gem I’d hate to part with in my collection.
