  The English expression of masculinity in an era when the suit was the norm. I knew it well in the 80s, searched for it until I resigned myself to its loss… Burberrys for Men is impossible to find today, but the cosmos allowed me to travel back in time and return with this bottle. A spiced, sharp, vibrant, and slightly sweet leather, like a perpetual flame honoring soldiers who never returned. A parade of bagpipes, drums, and rolls of the first Black Watch. The noise fades away, honoring the fallen and remembering the brave. A work of art that leaves a void, like a comrade who left and never came back.

  A perfume from another era, with different values. Wide-lapelled suits, a morning brandy, shiny Boston shoes, fashionable mustaches, and cigarettes that still smelled of tobacco, without those grim death reminders on the packs. This classic captures the essence of the 70s English gentleman: just as worthy of comment as Aqua Brava was for Spain or Kouros for France. Burberrys is the scent of our British friends. It smells like bar soap, an old radio, and a cigarette in an ashtray. It recalls leather jackets, animal grease, and pure testosterone, no skincare routines, with a freshly shaved and clean beard. Subtle notes of car oil and leather sole are barely perceptible today.

  I wear it with nostalgia and cry at its absence. In my Rome, walking to class in the mornings during winter, standing right next to the driver, even he and my classmates would look at me with admiration. Some older people said it was too strong for me back then, that I should wait a few years before using it. It was an elegant, very distinguished, and masculine fragrance that my friends called ‘protective’.
