Bois D’Argent by Dior

Bois d’Argent is not a perfume to get attention, it is a work of balance and texture with a clearly minimalist aesthetic. What I perceive from the start is a cold, polished and almost metallic wood, accompanied by a dry and powdery freshness that reminds me of freshly printed paper. It is a clean and extremely neat scent. Its evolution is restrained. The heart becomes slightly more balsamic thanks to myrrh and a warm resinous base, but the perfume never explodes, it always stays under control, conveying a constant sense of elegance and calm. In the drydown, what I perceive most is musk, which dominates the final phase and reinforces that idea of sophisticated cleanliness. A very subtle sweet nuance also appears, which adds a warm touch without breaking the dry and refined character of the composition. In terms of performance, in my case it stays quite close to the skin from relatively early on. It is a perfume that works like a personal bubble: it does not invade other people’s space and is only clearly perceived when bringing the nose close to the skin. It gives me about 5-6 hours of longevity, with low projection and an intimate sillage. I see it as ideal for spring and fall. If you are looking for impact, this perfume is not for you. I like its scent and it is a very well-crafted composition, but I would not buy it again: I prefer iris when it becomes creamier or with chocolatey nuances, something that here always stays in a dry and powdery register. Also, although the composition is very balanced, its discreet character and restrained projection make it hard for me personally to justify its high price. Rating: 7

Its opening made me understand the “silver” in its name (d’Argent) because to my nose it opens with something cold and metallic. Soon you also understand the “wood” (Bois) as a strongly woody scent unfolds, a sort of sweet and pleasant sawdust. Then the perfume settles as a powdery iris accompanied by a potent and aromatic beeswax. I think that, although not listed as notes, it is the feeling given to me by the myrrh-resins-honey accord. This perfume is ultimately warm (strange as it may seem after its opening), spicy, resinous and sweet. It has moderate-high sillage and 9 hours of longevity on my skin. Definitely one of the ones I liked most from the line for its originality and I think it deserves a try. That said, if you are not lovers of honey and derivatives I think you should perhaps stay away. Upon applying it, I understood the ‘Silver’ in the name: it comes out cold and metallic. Then the wood emerges, like sweet, pleasant sawdust. Later, it settles into a powdery iris with potent beeswax, giving me the impression of myrrh, resins, and honey, even though they aren’t listed. Overall, it’s warm, spicy, resinous, and sweet. It has strong sillage and lasts 9 hours on my skin. It’s one of the best in the line for its originality and deserves a try, but if you don’t like honey, better avoid it. Scent 7/10, longevity 9/10, sillage 7.5/10, value for money 6/10, versatility 6.5/10, packaging 7/10. Would I buy it again? I haven’t purchased it yet.
