Promising at first, but ultimately smells like ultra-refined car air freshener. I appreciate the bitter, citrusy touch that adds seriousness and freshness, along with the spices that kick off the opening, but then I’m just in a typical green forest. As is often the case with this brand, the performance is very low. What a shame, because it could have been interesting if it evolved, but it falls flat completely.
This is my fourth from this brand: spicy, with anise, cloves, and geranium. Wow, so lovely; at first it seems to have leather, but then it balances out. Grey amber, cedar, and patchouli enter, making it more woody and earthy. It has everything: a spicy citrus that mutates into a woody floral. It’s intense, powerful, and the scent is top-notch—it blew my mind. I see it as super versatile for all year, maybe not extreme heat. Be careful with the trigger; the opening is pure pyrotechnics. For the office, I spray five times and it lasts until home. It lasts twelve hours on skin, sharp for the first four, then fading but still perceptible. I lean towards masculine, great for casual or semi-formal wear. It leaves a good impression, elegant and mature. Recommended for ages 30+. Scent: 9.5/10, Sillage: 9.5/10, Projection: 9/10, Longevity: 9/10.

The phases are spicy citrus in the opening, fresh woody floral in the heart, and smoky floral in the dry down. If you HAVE heard of Blue Sapphire, the difference is that Auster swaps the rose for a fresh, green geranium, so green you might confuse it with rose. Another point: the dry down of Blue Sapphire is slightly feminine, whereas here there are more woods, making it much more unisex-masculine. Both have that mystical duality of floral/smoky and citrus/woody. If you like Blue Sapphire, you’ll enjoy Auster, even if it’s not a clone, it follows the same archetype. PERFORMANCE: 10 hours, higher projection in the first 4. PRESENTATION: excellent bottle, heavy glass, and a potent, sensitive mist. The box keeps it in optimal condition, though it’s not a Xerjoff-style case. PRICE: Best value alongside the scent! I got it for under $140; at that price and quality, it’s a great buy. Fresh with a bitter touch, quality as always from this house. Even though I have others from them that I love more, it remains a very interesting option.
What an interesting and underrated fragrance! A super original scent that blends perfectly, a rare combination they nail here. The price-to-quality ratio is excellent; it’s already in my top 10.
