Another mango perfume off the production line… I’m a bit tired of mango in perfumery! It’s true that mango has never been a note that’s won me over (nor fruits in general), but I have to say this is one of the ones that interested me the most, far more than others in this family. Why? For two reasons: osmanthus and oud. That dark drydown is a delight and contrasts hugely with the fruity/citrus opening. All seasoned with the sweetness of vanilla and tonka bean, resulting in an exquisite cream. Worth smelling, and if you like mango… this will drive you crazy. It’s very versatile; I can see myself wearing it all year round (rare for a mango) and it’s totally unisex. -Scent: 9 -Longevity: 8 -Projection: 8 -Price: 340 euros/100 ml! BANG!
A decadent fruit… Astrum Nova by Electimuss. Another mango perfume, don’t they get tired of repeating the same thing across all houses? But don’t be fooled by their fruity accords; this is a fragrance with weight. It starts luminous with fresh, vibrant mango pulp, featuring an aquatic sweetness reminiscent of watermelon that makes you drool. Then it moves into a dense darkness. Notice the oud; at first, it sounds like that innocent “cheese” style, but later it becomes a soft, humid mist. For me, the oud is just an accompanist; the protagonist is the creamy, thick iris alongside the tonka bean. The osmanthus isn’t very noticeable, nor as close to the herbal leather as I’d like. A beautiful opening and an interesting base take us out of the typical British style of the London house to offer a different fruity facet. Fruits don’t just refresh during the day; sometimes they also wrap us in warmth at night. It conveys a warm, dark atmosphere, a wild, juicy, dense, elegant, and decadent fruity cloak, yet beautiful and mysterious. Very well done, Electimuss.
Am I the only one smelling powdered vanilla with dried ripe mango? Although Astrum Nova has more nuances, it’s basically that trendy oud-tropical fruit combo executed flawlessly. Too bad Electimuss isn’t releasing 50ml or 30ml bottles; they’d surely sell a ton.
Smells amazing, I really liked it.
