  Before criticizing, let me clarify that vetiver is my favorite note, so my opinion might be biased. Also, every skin is different. As a fan, this is a huge NO. It’s not the typical vetiver; breaking the tradition of mixing it with citrus is a plus. On my skin, the vetiver is secondary. The opening is an explosion of grapefruit and black pepper: sharp and spicy at first, but on my skin the grapefruit turns artificial and ‘plastic’ as it softens, while the pepper blends with flowers. In the heart, it’s very green, with supporting vetiver and flowers (I assume lily of the valley). At 30 minutes, it smells like ‘shampoo-baby lotion-perfume’; two people, including a gardening teacher, agreed on that. At 3 hours, it becomes soapy and salty due to the labdanum and ambergris. The only good thing is the performance: over 8 hours with strong projection for the first 3. It was a huge disappointment. Rating: 2/10. It’s the first vetiver I truly dislike. Creed’s Original Vetiver seemed pleasant, but I gave it a negative for price-to-quality; here, the fragrance itself just doesn’t work for me.

  I’m a vetiver addict, so my opinion might be biased, but this is a resounding NO. It’s not the typical citrus mix; it risks breaking tradition, which is good. On my skin, the vetiver is secondary, supporting other notes. The opening is a bomb of grapefruit and black pepper: sharp and spicy at first, but on my skin the grapefruit turns artificial, like plastic, while the pepper dominates and blends with flowers. In the heart, it’s very green with vetiver in the background and a subdued grapefruit. At 30 minutes, it smells like shampoo, lotion, and baby perfume; two people, even a gardener, confirmed that scent. At 3 hours, it becomes soapy and salty due to the hop and ambergris. The only good thing is that it lasts over 8 hours and projects strongly at first. It was a huge disappointment; I had high expectations. Rating: 2/10. It’s the first vetiver I truly hate. I already rated Creed’s Vetiver negatively for price-to-quality, but at least I liked that one; here, the fragrance itself just doesn’t work for me.

  Tauer tried to make a bold vetiver, but the result was unfortunate for me. Vetiver Dance is a mess: it starts with a horrible grapefruit note that smells like detergent and baby lotion, with a salty base from ambergris. It’s like the sea breeze hits your face and leaves soap and lotion residue on it. It makes no sense. If they removed that detergent smell, it would improve significantly and remind me of Evody. To my nose, it’s unbearable and an insult to good taste. Rating: 1.

  Tauer tried to make a bold vetiver, but the result is lamentable to my taste. Vetiver Dance is like one of Tauer’s failures, especially after his masterpiece L’Air du Desert Marocain. I agree with Lechu: it’s a vetiver with a horrible grapefruit opening, smelling like detergent and baby cream, with a salty base from ambergris. It’s like the sea breeze hits your face and leaves soap and cream residue; it makes no sense. If they removed that detergent smell, it would improve significantly, actually reminding me of some Evody scents. Truly impossible for my nose and an insult to good taste. Rating: 1.

  I’ll be brief and direct: the dry down is the worst I’ve ever experienced, a cheap joke at this price point. If it were Andy, this ‘creation’ would go straight to the bottom of the drawer to be forgotten. I’m not a hater; I usually stay silent out of respect, but this is terrible and unpleasant. Don’t even try it unless you love vetiver more than your own mother.
