Uomo by Gisada

Gisada Uomo EDT from 2016 in this 2025 update: besides a new bottle, they’ve added a synthetic soft, chocolatey oud, super easy to wear and slightly sweetened, to make it more appealing to the conservative, elegant, mature male audience with upper-middle-class purchasing power who want a serious, badass woody fragrance for going out at night in fall–winter, dinner with their partner, meetups,… or whatever comes up. To simplify the description for those who get lost quickly and want simple analogies: this is in the vein of TF Oud Wood, dupes, and the like, mixed with The One D&G EDP. A woody oriental (because of the oud), ambery, and with great sillage. Anyone with an average level of fragrance expertise will say: “this reminds me of,… and I’ve smelled this before.” That’s just how it is. Problem with all of Gisada’s offerings, in my opinion. It’s a Swiss house that’s half niche, (mind you, they really only do fragrances,…but),… half pop designer, and unfortunately they have the worst of both worlds (high price seeking posh exclusivity and, at the same time, a determined aspiration to make as much money as possible by pleasing the consumerist masses who are clueless about fragrance). Any problem? None at all. Total freedom, please! They want to be a sort of mix between Dior and Tom Ford without having to sell luxury clothing. Result: they play it safe, little to no inspiration, iteration of already proven successful scents, without risking inventing anything or seeking olfactory challenges or non-commercial aromas. Like Dior and Tom Ford, you find their products in any major selective/designer perfume chain. Does it smell good and deliver? Yes. Original? No. Should you go crazy to get it? Not at all. Price? It’s not expensive compared to others from the same house and especially the competition. Longevity? Moderate-decent, a good 6–7 hours. Careful, this isn’t one of the Gisada Ambassador ones, dude, which last forever,… and that’s what you pay for. Are there better things for less money? Without hesitating 2 seconds.

Smell of synthetic OUD.

Al Gisada Uomo 2025: now with a soft, chocolatey synthetic oud, sweet and easy to wear, designed for the conservative, elegant man looking for something serious and cool for winter date nights. To put it simply: it’s like mixing Tom Ford Oud Wood with D&G The One. A woody oriental and amber scent that smells good, but anyone with a decent nose will say ‘I’ve heard this before.’ Gisada’s issue is blending niche pricing with mass-market aspirations without taking risks to create anything new, just repeating successful formulas like Dior or Tom Ford. Does it smell good? Yes. Is it original? No. Is it worth the price? No, there are better options for less cash, and the longevity is moderate, nothing like the magic of their Ambassador versions.

Just tried it in Zurich and I’m not an expert, but to me it smells like a summer version of a Gisada Ambassador with a touch of oud. If you liked that one, you’ll love this.
