  As always, at this price, try it before you buy. It opens with a burst of blood orange and pepper, then saffron and myrrh emerge over benzoin. Elegant? Absolutely. Mandarin jumps in suddenly with a spicy kick; I think it’s a blend of tangerine and blood orange—juicy and acidic at first, then smoothed by jasmine and a very fine leather. The saffron stays sweet with a hint of bitterness, while benzoin becomes more prominent over time, leaving the tangerine lingering in the background. There’s also tonka and vanilla, not aggressive, plus some earthy vetiver that pairs well with the leather and that summery tangerine note. What a symphony—neither harsh nor pretentious. It’s not a gourmand; it’s too subtle for that, yet far from weak. A worthy representative of Matieri, infusing every note with elegance. The experience is great; Celine Perdriel has created something almost perfect for the colder months. But… Ambre Papier doesn’t quite reach its potential, it’s just shy of perfection.
