Byredo, with creator Ben Gorham, bets on a minimalist and Nordic style with simple notes and an avant-garde vibe; sometimes I feel they’re missing ‘something.’ Of the ones I’ve tried, I prefer orientals, and Seven Veils is my favorite (I’ve already gone through two bottles). Inspired by Salome’s dance, it has an exotic touch. On my skin, it’s warm sandalwood wrapped in ethereal, sweet vanilla, with a hint of carrot that makes it unique. It’s a modern, effervescent oriental, though for me it’s too simple; I’m looking for heavier, warmer orientals. It works great for young men or women who want something sweet, different, and seductive, wearable day or night. Its modern oriental style makes it approachable: young, easy to wear, and minimalist (a rare cocktail in orientals, but that’s how I see it). It’s pricey for what it offers (there are cheaper and longer-lasting orientals), but it smells different and avant-garde. It’s pleasant, without being harsh or having any duplicates.

I love this ethereal vanilla mixed with warm sandalwood and a touch of carrot that gives it an exotic twist. It’s a modern, effervescent, and very pleasant oriental, perfect for young people looking for something sweet and seductive, day or night. Although it’s pricey and I prefer heavier orientals, it’s a cutting-edge, one-of-a-kind scent with no real duplicate.

It smells like carrot with pink pepper and sandalwood, too intense and strange at first. Gradually, it sweetens and becomes floral, with no vanilla at all. It’s a peculiar scent, one of those that makes my stomach turn. Once it settles, it’s sweet and liquor-like. Luckily, it has a projection as weak as its longevity.

At first, it smells like carrot with lots of pink pepper and sandalwood—a strong, strange combo that even makes my stomach turn a bit. Gradually, it softens and becomes more floral, without that vanilla note I was expecting. In the end, it leaves a sweet, liquor-like scent, but unfortunately, its longevity and projection are very weak.
