L’Interdit Burning Neroli by Givenchy

Hey everyone! Today I’m sharing my experience with this fragrance. As you know from my other reviews, I’m a huge fan of the L’Interdit line and feel super comfortable wearing them. Although not all flankers make it to Argentina, this special edition did arrive and is still available here. First off, I was surprised: I expected something citrusy and ethereal, but instead found a fragrance with quite a bit of body. On my skin, it opens floral, clean, and sweet, without being overwhelming; that caught me off guard since I was looking for something spicier. Despite the sweetness, it’s the first in this line without gourmand notes. A few seconds in, I notice a green touch, which I interpret as a flower stem; it’s not in the forefront but it’s clear. Also, even though it’s not listed, I believe it carries neroli like the rest of the family, which I absolutely love. As it dries down, a woody nuance emerges, probably vetiver, which blends organically with the sweet florals and takes center stage, softening the floral character without erasing it. Regarding the name and the controversy: at first, it didn’t make sense to me, but with wear, I perceive a warm side with a slight smoky touch, though I think calling it ‘fiery’ is an exaggeration. It’s very versatile; I’d enjoy it all year round, but it’s ideal for spring, fall, and mild summers, day or night. I also see it as great for dates, since that vetiver with florals gives it an interesting sensual side. In terms of longevity and projection, it’s not a bomb, but depending on the day, it lasts 6 to 7 hours: moderate to high for the first hour, then medium sillage, and finally soft but noticeable. In short, it’s extremely pleasant and versatile. Although I knew I’d like it, I must be honest: I didn’t imagine I’d not just like it, but absolutely adore it. I love neroli, and in this perfume it really shines; it’s very pleasant, perfect for spring and summer, and it brings me a lot of joy.

I have to confess I didn’t expect to like it, but I did! I tried it a few days ago at the mall when a salesperson gave me a tester; since I liked it, I asked them to apply it to my skin. It’s neroli with more neroli. In the base, very deep down, you can detect the neroli. The patchouli I honestly didn’t smell, nor the vetiver, but I understand they’re what give it body and make it last hours. On my skin, it left a fresh and soft neroli, ideal for hot days. It has a very baby cologne vibe, but in a good way: soft and long-lasting. I liked it a lot so I bought it. I can’t wait to use it on hot days and during vacations.

I love it! It’s pure neroli. On my skin, it has nothing to do with the L’Interdit EDP (which is my favorite). I smell it similar to Neroli Portofino and Classique Pin Up, except this one isn’t gourmand. It’s a slightly fresh neroli, ideal for spring/summer and daytime wear. It has great longevity. If you like neroli or baby perfumes, buy it blind without fear. But if you’re looking for something similar to the L’Interdit family, I’d recommend testing it before buying.

I adore the L’Interdit line; I own five of them and they’re all hits, but this 2023 version wasn’t my case. I don’t recommend buying it blind because it strays far from its predecessors. It seems like a linear scent to me; all I notice is neroli and more neroli. Although it’s not listed in the pyramid, I smell a very subtle neroli, but it gets overshadowed by so much neroli. The vetiver is also imperceptible; I think it gets diluted. It’s linear because only the neroli stands out. If you like that note, it could be your option, but for me, it won’t be because the longevity disappoints me; the whole line lasts more than 8 hours on my skin, and this one didn’t even reach three. In summary, it’s a linear perfume with lots of neroli and poor longevity.
