Summer fresh notes are usually marine or citrus, but this one takes a distinct turn. After an initial citrus cocktail, the fragrance’s soul is the distillation of fennel, the plant of absinthe. It’s a fresh, green perfume that’s very proud of itself.

  • It seems like a kind of lime absenta, thanks to the fennel which gives it a peppermint scent. Among the citrus notes, a soft grapefruit stands out. Overall, it’s a rich and well-executed perfume, though low in power.

Tested this morning in April: it’s a magnificent entry-level niche perfume. The notes are well-assembled, natural without tricks. The green and Absenta dominate the air with good projection. The longevity is good; it’s soft but present. At first it’s dry, then it becomes sweeter, with a feminine tint but usable by men. Very versatile, ideal for spring and summer (or all year if you fall in love with the green). Beautiful and guaranteed quality.

Sometimes perfumes are tasted; Interdit Absente is one of those. It’s juicy, refreshing, and sparkling; wearing it gives you an ENORME SMILE. Perfect for a stifling summer, it’s like drops of vigor and joy. It opens with fresh grapefruit, embraced by mint and mugwort, then comes ginger, fennel, orange, and white roses, with woods and musk in the background. Every minute conquers me, embraces me, and calms me. It’s wonderful, just like the entire Josier collection, which gives you experiences and emotions. I declare myself addicted to their line.

I’ve often said that there are perfumes you don’t just enjoy with your nose, but you savor. Interdit Absente is one of those exemplary cases: it’s so succulent, juicy, refreshing, and lively that wearing it gives you a HUGE SMILE. It’s perfect for a summer day with stifling heat; in such a scenario, it’s like drops of vigor and joy. It opens with a juicy grapefruit embraced by artemisia and mint, then ginger, fennel, an amazing orange, and roses emerge, with floating petals and precious woods in the background, highlighting sandalwood and a clean musk that boost the sparkling citrus notes, the stars of the fragrance. Every minute I stay in this mist, it conquers me, embraces me, and calms me, leaving me in ecstasy. The magic it creates is incredible; without a doubt, it’s wonderful, just like the entire Daniel Josier collection. Each one offers a different experience; you don’t buy a perfume, you buy emotions. Daniel Josier never ceases to surprise me, so I can only wait to finish exploring his collection and hope more amazing works join the lineup. I declare myself addicted to his line.

  • Very original and high quality: a citrus and green sorbet from the fennel. The sandalwood gives it body, but the performance could be better.

  • Very original and high-quality, this citrus and green sorbet from the fennel. Sandalwood gives it body and support, but the performance seems improvable.

  • Well, nothing new under the sun. Daniel Josier is an accessible and friendly professional. He already gave a masterclass on another forum discussing similar topics. Uninterested? I don’t see it that way; he’s presented almost all his perfumes, though in this interview there’s a lot of Thai massage and few critiques, perhaps due to my perception. I think he’s lacking a bit in what he himself admits: he doesn’t know the finished, available works very well. I’d like him to provide technical data on reformulated perfumes months after launch to eliminate notes, not just lower intensity. As for Interdit Absente, I know it quite well, having carried a 100ml bottle for years. It’s a nice, fresh, green scent that suits my style. Maybe the performance slightly undermines the price (around €125 for 100ml); it’s not about projecting 8 meters or lasting 4 days (that no longer exists), but about being able to smell it for a few hours on yourself or those close to you, which is not common. In summary, Interdit Absente stands above many fragrances in its style, very pleasant and with an original touch, without that typical sweetness that drives us crazy. I was surprised to hear it’s being discontinued, as I see it as one of his easiest-to-wear scents. P.S.: The video was very interesting and pleasant.

  • Thanks for clarifying that, Drakecito. I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s more of a friendly chat where D.J. relaxes and talks about his creations, almost as if he doesn’t even want to. I agree with you that the performance is low; maybe they banned lily root or something like that. In the end, they might ban spring for being too allergenic. Greetings from little kid Ambroxio.

  • Nothing new under the sun: Daniel Josier is a pro, accessible, and friendly. He already gave a masterclass before where he answered everything. Uninterested? He doesn’t seem to be; there’s a lot of Thai massage and few harsh critiques. I think he needs to get to know his own sold perfumes better, especially the recent reformulations. Interdit Absente seems beautiful, fresh, and green—just what I like. The performance isn’t the best for the price (125€); it doesn’t project 8 meters or last 4 days, but it does linger on the skin after a few hours, which is rare these days. It’s better than many fragrances in its style, without that typical sweetness. I’m surprised they’re discontinuing it; it’s one of the most wearable. The video is very interesting.

  • I’m looking for fresh, natural perfumes, and this one fits, though the green note is subtle. On my skin, it’s bright yellow with lots of grapefruit and yuzu. I like it—it’s original and perfect for the heat—but it lasts barely any time and has almost no projection. After six sprays, I have to be right up close to smell it after three hours. I wouldn’t buy it; there are other Josier scents that convince me more.

The gift I was given is finally running out: it starts fresh and green like a mojito, then shifts to citrus and wood. The first hour performs well, but the trail fades significantly afterward. Ideal for spring and summer; I wouldn’t wear it in the cold.
