Flâneur by 27 87

Flaneur caught me off guard, but it turns out to smell amazing. It opens with a strong, dry frangipani floral note—without that creamy twist—blended with an almond scent reminiscent of Guerlain and a hint of absinthe similar to Lolita Lempicka’s Green Lover. As it dries down, the florals recede and the fresh notes take over: absinthe bergamot and ambergris, which become dominant. It’s like a spring breeze, very close to what people seek in Silver Mountain Water-inspired scents, though it’s not the same. Ambergris is the thread that ties it all together. It’s versatile for any weather with great performance and a delicious sillage. Some might find the floral aspect off-putting, but I think it’s a fantastic perfume. It’s my first try with this brand, and I believe it’s worth exploring further. Rating: 8/10

It starts floral, sweet, yet light, without being cloying, and transitions into a soft, toasted almond very different from the Ideal line. It never loses that floral or fruity touch without becoming overly mature. The absinthe note stands out more with humidity or sweat, blending with something that smells like young wood. As it dries down, it appears woodier but retains that joyful floral essence. It’s a young and current fragrance. As Baudelaire noted about the ‘flâneur,’ this is urban and modern. While it’s unisex, I perceive it as more balanced toward the feminine for the first three hours, when it becomes neutral. It evokes a modern, youthful, dynamic office or a spring walk in the park once the heat has set in. It’s the third from the 27_87 collection I’ve tested (following Sonar and Hashtag), and it might be the first one I’d actually keep. I’m surprised by the negative votes because it doesn’t seem like a bad fragrance at all. I think it can be worn all year, day and night. That said, even though I like it and find it intriguing, I find it hard to justify the price.
