  1. Perfu_Manu

Top fragrance, typical of Bortnikoff’s Ouds. Maybe not for beginners, but if you’re already into the scene, it’s not overly challenging. I love it, though I used to prefer Monarch or Maximus. It’s a blend of dark oud and animalic notes, especially in the opening, with a floral/fruity touch that becomes more pronounced as it dries down (the orange is more noticeable in the attar). A magnificent and very interesting scent.

  2. Not for beginners. The opening is basically oud + castoreum, and those two notes dominate. The castoreum smells like leather; it feels super ‘tamed.’ It’s a very animalic oud where orange, citrus, and spices linger in the background with a very light vanilla base. It’s a great perfume, but if you’re not used to animalic notes dominating, you’ll hate it. It’s extremely difficult for those who don’t have this taste. It’s masculine, though if a woman wears it, she’ll need strong personality. I like it and find it interesting, with good longevity, but I’m not a fan of this oud-animalic combo; it gets tiring. I have animalic perfumes with other combinations. Fans of Dusita’s Oudh Infini will like this. Tom Ford’s Oud Wood Intense is ‘oud-castoreum’ and smells like leather, but it’s VERY friendly, like a photo of a sunny day with bees and birds. Mysterious Oud is simply a rough, animalic perfume that throws a challenge at your nose.
