One of the best ambers I’ve ever tried: a rich frangipani with a great citrus top where the amber settles and gleams on the skin. It’s perfect, wonderful, not intrusive, precious, unique, and addictive. Highly recommended.
Amber Cologne by Bortnikoff is an ode to frangipani that evolves beautifully on the skin. It opens with an intense, vibrant frangipani, lightly spiced with creamy cardamom and blended with soft, sparkling citrus notes that enhance the flower without stealing the spotlight. It feels tropical, floral, and feminine. Around the 30-40 minute mark, it shifts onto a bed of white flowers and jasmine with a sensual indolic twist that, strangely, makes it feel more masculine—an unexpected turn that highlights its complexity. In the dry down, the frangipani returns, paired with woods that add depth, along with amber and salty notes reminiscent of ylang-ylang, creating an exotic, tropical vibe. It lasts about 8 hours on a warm, humid day with a discreet but noticeable projection. It shines brighter with heat and direct sunlight, perhaps projecting a bit more. It doesn’t overwhelm, but those occasional delicious bursts are a real treat for the senses.
