Descripción

Yves Saint Laurent Y by Yves Saint Laurent is a woody aromatic fragrance for men. Launched in 2017, this composition was created by Dominique Ropion and Claire Liégent. The top notes unfold with aldehydes, bergamot, ginger, lemon, and mint; the heart reveals apple, violet leaves, pineapple, sage, and geranium; while the base notes settle in ambergris, musk, cedar, balsam fir, vetiver, and incense.

  • Spectacular scent… in fact, it would be my signature fragrance if I had discovered it sooner… sexy, fresh, smoky… Pfffff… A DELICIA in all caps. Excellent trail and projection, longevity passes the test… OUTSTANDING FRAGRANCE… 10/10.

  • Antonio Tavera

Daily use, an absolute DELICIA, easy to use. My signature fragrance, it’s a delicious, elegant, and sexy aroma. The only downside is the longevity. 10/10.

  • It’s a strange scent. It has a note I don’t like. Anyway, it doesn’t seem to have the same level as other perfumes from the brand. Definitely not for me.

  • I agree with Pery, it doesn’t smell exactly the same but it’s of the same type as Invictus in one of the dry-down stages and at the end. Honestly, nothing new.

  • Smells very clean, I loved it. I wasn’t going to try it because of some notes I don’t usually like, but I must say don’t be fooled; sometimes these notes together can give a perfect result like here. A scent of fresh apples with a touch of ginger, mint, and amber giving it a super crisp vibe, like you just took a shower surrounded by flowers. In the dry-down it smells a bit more masculine but not too heavy, so it’s perfect. I fell in love trying it and will definitely consider buying it.

I tried it, loved the opening, was about to buy it but decided to wait a bit. The trail and aroma faded; the dry-down smelled like a generic deodorant. Glad I didn’t waste my money, maybe it’s not for me.

  • Easy to use daily, for the office, the gym, etc. Smells clean and crisp with a sweet touch, nothing cloying. Perfect for hot days, guys of any age can use it. Lasts 6-7 hours projecting 2-3 hours depending on the environment. Highly recommended.

  • I like it a lot, but the dry-down is practically identical to a L’Occitane en Provence fragrance called Cedrat L’homme Cologne (the metal bottle one). Comparing them, I’ve seen they share many notes.

YSL is the shadow of what it once was: Rive Gauche, M7, Jazz, and the unmatched Opium, both EDT and EDP. I owned the Y EDP, luckily a batch that lasted about 10 hours. Strong and very cloying. If you over-spray, it gives you nausea. It’s not a novel scent, nothing that will leave you impressed.

  • In this era of everything being the same, this is the escape: sweet, youthful, and fresh. If there were a category for ‘godin chavoruco’ with his Mazda, this would be the perfume. Robot bottle level, bro. That’s what you’re buying: your last breath of youth, wey. Don’t wake up and pay the rent, hahaha. The dry-down is like a cheap unisex ball perfume.

I’m not leaving a review, but I have a question: why do almost everyone say it’s for summer or heat? It’s repeated in reviews without genuine analysis. To me, it smells very sweet and cloying for that weather; I prefer it for cooler days, even at night.

  • Spectacular from the first spray to the dry down. I like it quite a bit, but it’s better to buy the 200 ml version to over-apply since it’s a bit shy on projection.

  • I tried this fragrance and fell in love. I don’t know if it was this one or Lives, because the bottles are so different. I just know it’s very masculine, fresh, and smells delicious. The girl said it was EDT and it lasted well, and I still smell it days later on the blotter. It lasts well and leaves a trail. I loved it.

  • Absolutely delicious, queen of compliments, I’m sure I’ll buy it again for its versatility. The 2022 version has better performance and a very similar scent.

  • Ferdinandd80

My batch is from 2021, bought in 2022 (I’ll buy the 2022 version later to compare). Very pleasant for casual daytime outings or working out. If it’s a ‘basic’ perfume, it doesn’t propose anything new, but it always gets compliments. Projection and trail fade after the first hour. Perfect for the office and daily life; it smells great and is easily detected when you’re close.

  • It’s funny to see so many frustrated perfumers. It’s a good YSL perfume, nothing new, but it delivers on everything. Ideal for days that aren’t too cold or hot. Recommended for its versatility. Rating: 8.5/10.

YSL: This well-known fragrance is my all-rounder. I wear it as a signature scent, during the day, for social events, at night at the movies, or dining with my wife. It’s phenomenal for any occasion. Delicious, well-received, never gets old, and you always look good in it. Its freshness is pleasant; it works for serious, formal, casual, or sexy vibes. In short, a must-have. Although it’s not revolutionary, it’s powerful: it’s noticeable, reaches, feels, and commands presence. Fresh, clean, masculine, and of outstanding class. Energetic performance and reliable. Scent: 9.0. Projection: good. Longevity: 8 hours. Recommended.

  • Silvanacopp

The first time I tried it, I loved the perfect balance between a harmonious green apple and a grey amber that really stands out on my skin. Fresh, aromatic, sexy, and versatile. Oh my god, I loved it! It’s already in my collection and highly recommended.

  • breno1942

It’s an all-rounder that fits anywhere with that fresh, non-intrusive scent. It’s the classic you go back to when you have no idea what to wear.

  • My versatile favorite. The scent fascinates me and feels unique because it’s not the typical fresh, citrus, woody shower gel vibe; rather, it’s an unusual, crisp freshness, slightly soapy, with standout fruitiness (green apple and bergamot), flashes of fresh ginger, a hint of herbal notes, and a subtle woody base. I barely perceive the rest, but it felt original when it launched and remains one of my favorite scents to this day. Regarding compliments, it’s a 9/10: while it’s true that no one dislikes it, it’s easy to wear and has earned me praise like ‘you smell so good.’ Also, I’ve never received a negative comment, but people haven’t asked what I’m wearing either, haha. Its usage is very versatile but not elegant; I see it as more sport or casual, social but not for clubs or parties, more family-oriented. I also find it better suited for heat because it’s refreshing, though it’s still rich in cold weather. Performance is moderate, lasting 5-7 hours, but I found the projection to be wide in the first few hours, with regular sillage; it doesn’t stand out in these categories. Its main downside is the price, as you pay a lot for average performance; you’re probably paying for the brand and longevity, when there are cheaper options worth much more. Compliments: 9, Longevity: 7, Projection: 8, Sillage: 7, Price: 5, TOTAL: 7.

  • I have a huge soft spot for it since it was the first ‘good’ perfume I ever owned. On my skin, it lasts and projects well, though it’s not a beast; totally versatile. A thousand times better than its EDP sibling. I tried the New version and the 2022 EDT reformulation, and neither pleased me as much as this one.

  • Personally, I believe it’s the best in the Y line. It smells incredible and is super versatile. It’s the fragrance that has earned me the most compliments. I see it as suitable for people aged 20 to 35. It lasts 8 hours on skin and up to 18 hours on clothes.

  • The 2017 EDT… definitely an all-rounder, which is typical for a blue fragrance. What stands out is the green apple, pineapple, ginger, sage, and ambergris, which gives it a charming sweetness. Totally different from the other blues: it’s not as synthetic as Sauvage, as marine as Invictus, as citrus-woody as Chanel, or as incense-heavy as Dylan Blue. I’m not saying I dislike those, just that this one suits my taste better. Usage: day, night (not too cold), temperate climates, heat, beach, strolls, work, gym, daily, informal, casual, formal, but not for parties. A delicious, non-invasive scent that everyone loves; you get compliments, people say you smell fresh, pleasant, and clean. Batch 2018, on my difficult skin, it lasts about 5 hours with moderate projection. When you don’t know what to wear, this is foolproof.

This was one of my Christmas gifts in 2019, and I have to say I love the scent, but it just doesn’t suit me. It smells great and very clean, very fresh. The bottle is gorgeous; I really like it. Is this the original scent? I don’t think so, but it’s a good fragrance. If you gift it to someone you don’t know well, you’ll likely hit the mark. In the opening, we get bergamot, lemon, and ginger. The heart notes that stand out most are green apple and geranium. In the drydown, there’s vetiver, cedar, and incense. I think it’s a very versatile fragrance that can be worn year-round.

  • ChrisFragancediction

I won’t say it smells bad, though I absolutely don’t like it. It smells like grass, something very green; it’s not a pleasant scent to me at all.

  • A very unique, rich, and youthful perfume. At first, it’s citrusy, fruity, and clean—the freshest in the entire line. Then it settles into that signature clean, fruity note that stays with you until drydown; quite refreshing and not overwhelming. It’s very rich for daily wear, great quality for the price, nothing disappointing, and excellent longevity on my skin. One of my favorites, but test it before buying because at this price point, there might be something better.

  • SpecThunder

I didn’t have high expectations, and when I tested it at the perfumery, I realized it’s a very generic scent. It’s a smell I’ve heard on the street multiple times, and there’s someone at my school who wears it every single day.

  • In my opinion, I don’t like this fragrance because it smells too much like body soap. To clarify… it doesn’t smell bad, it’s pleasant but generic. In my case, I mixed it with Bvlgari Man In Black and Cuba Red, and the change was incredible—it turned out perfect on me.

  • My first expensive perfume purchase. Do not test on blotter; I recommend spraying it once and seeing what you think. It’s more complex than it appears and sophisticated. At first, I struggled to get used to it; I don’t know if it’s the aldehydes or the ginger, but over time you start to know it better. It’s not that fresh to wear with too much heat. If it’s for daily use, depending on what you wear, you can use it until evening in summer or spring, but it doesn’t feel that informal since it’s expensive and has very good components. It projects its good 2 hours, trails a bit until 5-6, and lasts 7-8 on skin (longer on clothes). It’s very good for an EDT, and what I liked most was the dry down; you have to try it, but it’s worth it.

  • It smells like Sauvage at first, but then transforms into Invictus territory. I tested the EDT on one arm and the EDP on the other; the scent is very similar, but the EDT fades into the skin within minutes, while the EDP is much more potent. If you have to choose, go with the EDP unless you’re looking for something super subtle. I wouldn’t recommend buying blind if you want something different, because if you’ve already smelled Sauvage and Invictus (hard not to have), you might end up disappointed like I did. They’re just a fruitier, softer, less piercing alternative to Sauvage.

  • DonFragancello88

A gem, excellent for the heat season; it’s a fresh but interesting scent. Be careful with sprays because if you overdo it, the heat can make you a bit dizzy. Highly recommended for the heat; works for everyday wear or slightly formal situations.

  • unlimited3007

I found it quite generic and think the eau de parfum is more interesting, plus I think it’s expensive for what it offers.

  • JohnLecter86

Few perfumes in my collection are this versatile; it can even be worn discreetly in winter or on autumn afternoons. Although not cheap, it’s worth having because it never lets you down and attracts compliments. The opening is sweet but not overwhelming, with that green apple, mint, and ginger making it expressive. In the heart, the apple, pineapple, and sage are very pleasant. Although I don’t know real ambergris, it feels like some musk, cedar, and a touch of incense. If you want something more expressive with more character and longevity over 10 hours, I recommend the EDT version, which has more character and, in my opinion, is sexier.

  • I never reviewed this fragrance because I didn’t quite like it; I bought it for a birthday (5 years ago) and, to vary, got the 200ml. Maybe I wasn’t wearing it at the right time, but now with this heat, I’m using it again and it’s a delight: super fresh, neat, and fruity without being cloying. It doesn’t project much but lasts several hours, around 6. I don’t know if it concentrated or macerated over the years. Would I recommend it? Maybe not, as there are better options for the price, but if you have it, spring and summer are the perfect time to enjoy it.

  • Billy Ramita

On paper, it resembles Invictus, but once it dries, it’s cleaner and more floral-soapy, avoiding that cloying fruity effect I hate about the first one. On my skin, the opening is the same, but soon a smoky note emerges, like barbecue smoke soaking into clothes, gaining prominence. It’s somewhat disconcerting, similar to what happens with Versace Pour Homme, but less jarring here. It would be better if this didn’t happen and the clean tone prevailed. I’ll give it more chances; I think if I had tested it on skin first, I wouldn’t have bought it. Damn unbeatable deals and the usual mistake. Always test on skin before buying. It’s funny because my blind buys have been hits, but this one I actually tested backfired on me. For now, I like it, but I feel that smoky effect like an intruder in a pleasant and versatile perfume. That said, I think it’s expensive for what it offers.

  • A rich and easy-to-wear perfume, perfect for hot days. Although versatile, it always projects a certain elegance. Like almost everything from YSL, I wish it lasted and projected more.

  • IvanIglesias

If I had to recommend a perfume for someone who always looks put-together, it would be this; literally, it would be my only perfume, though as a fanatic I can’t have just one. The scent (from 2017) smells like rich green apple chilled with ginger, an ‘invisible’ aroma that seems synthetic but is exquisite and unique. I’ve worn it to weddings, dates, the movies, the gym, and formal dinners; even a friend wore it to dance and looked super gentlemanly. It’s the most versatile, not overwhelming in summer or winter. Lasts 6 hours, enough and discreet; people notice it. I’ve been told ‘you smell great’ everywhere.

  • Andresguerrero

It’s my number one fragrance; nothing compares. Many go for the EDP, but honestly, I find it too invasive. This EDT is the queen: super versatile for everyday wear, the office, or casual outings. It smells elegant and sweet, with a citrus and apple opening, drying down to a gorgeous ambergris. Longevity is decent, around 5 hours (though it used to last longer; surely reformulations have lowered the potency). A safe blind buy, maybe not the cheapest, but totally worth it.

  • Daniel Henderson 77

Fresh, clean, and elegant fragrance, ideal for a polished look and perfect for the office. The opening is a bit sharp, but once it dries, it becomes a delight. Highly recommended, and I prefer this EDT to the flankers that came out later.
