Authentic Man by Abercrombie is a fresh fragrance classified as citrus aromatic, but for me, I’d classify it as just aromatic, since the citrus disappears quickly and doesn’t come back. I tested it on skin and kept the dry-down; comparing the two, it seemed to have two different fragrances. On skin, it starts citrusy, but after 10 minutes, only a semi-sweet amber note remains, very close to the skin, until I thought it was gone. On the dry-down, the scent stays citrusy but with an amber vibe similar to Sauvage. Longevity-wise, in a less polluted environment, I noticed it 8 hours later, but only when getting close to my skin. The scent isn’t bad, but if this is what Abercrombie does to compete with Sauvage or others, Dior takes the lead in longevity, projection, and smell.
I tried a bit yesterday and it’s a blend between Aventus and CK Eternity. It starts with a creamy citrus touch, very current (like Loewe Esencia or Armaf CDNI), then transforms into a classic American masculine scent—fresh but not old, very similar to the great Eternity. As for longevity, my skin isn’t the best for perfumes, but it didn’t go badly; I get bursts all the time. I couldn’t resist and already bought a bottle as a gift, haha. I’ll use it daily and update my impressions on longevity and compliments. I see it as a good Aventus substitute with an Abercrombie twist that makes the difference at a great price. I’ll keep reporting…
I perceive it as similar to the Mont Blanc Explorer… very tasty and with great longevity!
It’s a pretty good perfume; it’s fresh, woody with soft leather nuances accompanied by musky effluvia. Tried it yesterday at a perfumery; I have to highlight that I liked its opening: energizing (due to the aromatic and synthetic citrus), quickly transitioning to a linear scent that lasts quite a few hours on the skin, turning into cold leather and wood. It has performed well on my skin. I’ve had it since yesterday, I even showered, and I still perceive its aroma. It’s young, very original, and more daytime than nighttime, as it lacks sensuality. Perfect for going to work in an informal style and better with warm temperatures. What I liked most is its original aroma. Personally, it didn’t remind me of other known fragrances. Recommended!
It’s a pretty good perfume: fresh, woody with soft leather and musky nuances. Tried it yesterday at a perfumery, I loved its energizing citrus opening, quickly transitioning to a linear scent that lasts quite a few hours on the skin, settling into cold leather and wood. Good performance; I’ve been wearing it since yesterday, I showered, and I can still smell it. It’s youthful, very original, and more daytime than nighttime, perfect for informal work in the heat. The best part is its original scent; it didn’t remind me of anything known. Recommended!
Indeed, the one I noticed the resemblance to was Mont Blanc Explorer; it begins with very well-executed citrus alongside suede and Amber Wood. Personally, I loved it, and it’s more affordable, honestly, I adored it. It feels very natural and hasn’t disappointed me; buy blind and it’s truly good. After a few minutes, it feels very clean, with those citrus notes like rich, clean soap. I must add that it evolves slowly but is very enjoyable.
Indeed, I noticed the resemblance to the Mont Blanc Explorer. Very tasty and with excellent longevity!
To find this perfume, I had to walk almost the entire store among recognized brands. Upon trying it, I sensed a grapefruit note followed by a clean skin sensation. It lasts 4 to 5 hours, but I highly recommend it; it’s fantastic.
It was a blind buy and wow, how delicious. On my skin, it lasted over 8 hours. It’s fresh and I consider it quite versatile.
It doesn’t resemble Aventus at all; it has a vintage halo, like 90s fragrances where citrus mixed with leather. I think that’s why its name ‘Authentic’ references the authentic Abercrombie man. Who does it actually resemble? It’s about 80% Dior Homme Cologne, and therefore Zara Summer Cologne.
I just reviewed it, and the similarity to Aventus is in the trail. I sprayed it on my son and it smells like Creed—not identical, but with that halo. Try it!
I tried it and it’s very fresh, with that Aventus-like opening, but honestly, it doesn’t even last two hours.
What a pity this perfume goes unnoticed. People compare it to Aventus at first, but within seconds it moves away from that boring blend to leave you with an incredible grapefruit top and a gorgeous suede and clearwood base. In its evolution, it reminds me of Dior Homme Cologne with that citrus vibe, but what steals the show is that mix of pencil wood with fruits and lemon. Super energizing! It will get you compliments and create an addiction. To those complaining about longevity: it’s worth $30, so you can spray it 20 times without worry. Definitely one of my best summer discoveries.
I bought it out of boredom without much hope, but it has a unique scent: a mix of Cuban cigar, pipe tobacco, and that pencil wood called Clearwood. It’s like the Ugly Duckling that shows up dazzling for summer. You end up liking it, but you have to wait for its development; it’s not like the Mont Blanc Explorer that explodes and fades. This goes from less to more with ginger, special moss, and soft smoky woods. If you’re looking to stand out without going over the top, this is it.
Beautiful fragrance that unfortunately gets little attention. Reviews compare it to Aventus, and sure, that’s the first thing that comes to mind, but within seconds it distinguishes itself from that crowded opening, giving way to grapefruit, and you can feel the base notes—what a gorgeous suede and clearwood it has. In its development, it’s a fact you’ll find it similar to Dior Homme Cologne, and of course, its citrus gives a similar vibe, but what takes the prize is that blend of pencil wood with fruits and lemon. Very energizing. It’s a perfume that will earn you compliments and cause addiction in anyone who smells it. And for those complaining about longevity, come on… it costs $30, you can spray 20 times without fear of failure. It will definitely be one of my summer dumb buys.
Very good fragrance for its low price of around $30. The bottle is wonderful; its quality and the magnetic cap delighted me. In the dry down, it’s very similar to Mont Blanc Explorer, a good option for the office; it gets good compliments. If it lasted more than four hours, it would definitely be among my favorites.
Very good fragrance given its low price of approx. $30; the bottle is wonderful, and I loved its quality and the magnetic cap. In the dry-down, it resembles Mont Blanc Explorer very much, a good option for office use; it earns good compliments. If it lasts more than 4 hours, it would definitely be among my favorites.
I’ve always liked the DNA of Fierce from this house, which was iconic in the early 2000s, but I must say I’ve really liked this Authentic. I don’t feel it’s as similar to Aventus or its clones; perhaps the opening gives a certain reminiscence, but then it takes its own path: citrusy, woody, clean, with lots of brightness, ideal for extreme heat. I sense an interesting note in the dry down, like pencil shavings, super pleasant and refined. Longevity and sillage are moderate, and the price is accessible, around $40-50 for 100 ml. I see it as ideal for daily wear, offices, or clinics; recommended.
I loved it; it’s a beauty… but I hate how little it lasts and projects. Nothing. It’s a disappointment. It reaches the skin for about 30 minutes and then I can’t perceive it anymore. I don’t understand those companies that claim to be perfume manufacturers yet try to exploit customers with a product that smells good but lasts a tragedy. Debut and farewell to this brand. Cheap comes expensive. Let’s be honest, it doesn’t resemble Aventus or anything like that; it might have some air of it, but I insist, it doesn’t resemble it.
I loved this scent, it’s a beauty… but I hate how long it lasts and how much it projects. Nothing… It’s a true disappointment. Up close, it lasts about 30 minutes, then I can’t perceive it anymore. I still don’t understand those companies that claim to be perfume manufacturers, trying to exploit their customers, thinking they’ll be captive for years, with a product that smells good but lasts a tragedy. Debut and farewell to this brand. Cheap comes expensive. Let’s be honest, it doesn’t resemble Aventus or anything like that. It might have some air of it, but I insist, it DOES NOT resemble it.
Exquisite fragrance, indeed another Aventus clone. It could be a good alternative, but unfortunately, its longevity leaves much to be desired, like almost all of A&F’s offerings. Currently, I only use it to take it out of the collection and keep it as a memory.
I have mixed feelings: I love the very citrusy opening, but on me, that’s all it goes. I have to spray it fearlessly to make it last longer. I love the formulation and the bottle has nice details, but I’m annoyed that it doesn’t last almost anything. I won’t buy it again despite its affordable price.
It smells great, pity it doesn’t last long since it’s so citrusy. It’s a fragrance people like and it’s easy to get right if you’re buying it as a gift.
It’s a youthful inspiration of Aventus; if you like that DNA and have a youthful spirit, it’s for you. I liked it for Sundays, but I had to spray it 20 times to get any projection, and it only lasted four or five hours.
If one day you don’t feel like showering but don’t want to look dirty, I recommend this perfume because it smells exactly like you just got out of the shower with soap and shampoo. It has moderate projection and sillage, but if you smell it on your skin, it feels very easy and fresh. Personally, I wouldn’t buy it because it just smells like you’ve been freshly bathed.
Holy cow! It’s a super great scent, smells clean, refined, fresh, and slightly sweet, like fine body soap. It has a hint of vetiver, even though it doesn’t contain it, and it’s very similar to Lalique’s Encre Noir Sport—very alike but at a much cheaper price. Oh my god, I must have this; it’s adorable and incredibly exquisite.
I tried it two days ago and it’s exquisite. At first, it reminds me of Aventus, but that rich, fresh mandarin makes the difference. After five minutes, the mandarin intensifies and the pineapple note typical of Aventus fades, leaving its unique, sweet charm with a soft, subtle masculine touch. Very good—even the saleswoman, who never usually commented on anything, was impressed when she smelled it. The downside is that it doesn’t project much; it’s personal, but more sprays compensate for it. A sublime scent. I hope an EDP version comes out that projects more; besides, the bottle design is gorgeous.
The most fruity and youthful Aventus archetype, vibrant, like Aventus’s 14-year-old son. Smells amazing, but the longevity is disappointing: about 3 hours on skin. Scent: 8/10, Longevity: 5/10, Projection: 5/10. Recommended only if you find it at a good price.
Ginger and citrus explode in a powerful opening that fades prematurely. After a while, it softens and smells clean, with a slightly green touch. I’m obsessed with smelling it; I spray my wrists before bed to enjoy it resting. It’s a shame it doesn’t last, but I’ve discovered that reapplying to the same areas boosts it and keeps it stable for a long time.
The ‘inspiration’ of the 100-peso clone, a knock-off of Creed’s Aventus, commissioned by perfumer Clement Gavarry for the A&F kids’ clothing line. With Creed and other clones, I’ll tell you this Authentic Man isn’t a 100% copy. It’s 70%: it’s an Aventus with different notes, lacking smoked pineapple, blackcurrant, birch, jasmine, rose, musk, or gray amber. It uses lower-quality substitutes that only bring it down. The worst part: it lasts less than an episode of ‘Cuéntame’ and projects like a classic cologne. If you’re a collector, an Aventus fan, or want something cheap (under $30 for 100ml), go for it. It smells good and is ultra-versatile, but keep in mind it’s weak and short-lived.
Another Aventus inspiration by Creed: yes, but more citrusy and youthful. Smells great. Longevity: a joke, maybe 3 hours at best. Worth it only for the aroma and if you find it at a good price. Rating: 6.5/10.
From Argentina: This perfume hit me hard. It lasts very little, seriously, very little. But the scent is absolutely delicious. It sticks to clothes for a long time. I wear it at night before bed to enjoy it. Also on dates and intimate moments; when they kiss your neck, they smell the citrus. It’s the weakest in my collection. Not recommended.
I bought it for the price and was surprised. Something strange, because on my skin it’s hard for anything to last, and Abercrombie scents are usually criticized for poor performance. Today, with 8-10 sprays at 9 am, I still feel it at 4 pm, with bursts that sometimes overwhelm me. It’s very rare given the comments. I’ll keep using it; if the performance holds up, it’s a great perfume at a very good price.
This perfume doesn’t deserve such a beautiful bottle. 😪
To be honest, it doesn’t stand out much. Maybe the only relevant thing is the inspiration from Creed’s Aventus, but nothing else. Performance is weak, 4 to 6 hours, with an unbalanced citrus opening. I don’t quite like it; I feel it lacks identity, as if it exists just to exist. It’s good, but only halfway. Good for spring/summer, but you have to be generous with the sprayer to make it last. The quality-to-price ratio is justified if you find it between $25 and $30; more expensive, it’s not worth it. If you’re looking for this line, try Authentic Moment, which smells better and lasts a bit longer. Honestly, I’m not sure if I’d recommend it, maybe just for the Creed inspiration.
Daily wear, rich projection with a woody dry-down and a touch of talc. Lasts 6 to 7 hours on skin and one more on clothes. People not used to it have given compliments. On my scale, an 8 out of 10: I love it.
A hidden gem from A&F: Authentic. Forget it smells like Creed’s Aventus; you only catch a faint echo if you get really close. It’s an all-rounder men’s scent: starts with a cold, metallic grapefruit, sparkling with ginger, and ends by hugging clearwood, suede, and moss for a clean, rugged skin scent that’s very masculine. It has two distinct phases: first, bright citrus like modern humidifiers; then, that woody, herbal blend from the 2000s, like shower gel or Ego deodorant, sensual and virile, just like in the ads for freshly shaven men. It’s versatile, neither too formal nor too casual, lasts 6 hours with high projection for the first hour before settling into a skin sillage. Perfect for signing off or the office, ideal for men 25+ looking for something vintage and fresh, far from today’s sweet trends. Out of the four Authentic versions, the EDT is the best for trying to have its own identity. I give it 2/4: it has its own style, but the projection is weak and it can seem boring compared to other classics. If you catch it on sale, it’s a good option.
