A very particular leather. The opening is smoky and resinous, almost like tar, reminiscent of a slightly aggressive, pitch-coated leather. But it softens over time, becoming powdery and much friendlier. Worth it if you like leathers.
Modern cut: a clean floral opening with a herbal touch. On the skin, the leather isn’t rancid or heavy, but airy, like brand-new gloves. Paired with violet (Fahrenheit original style) and heliotrope, it creates a creamy, balsamic woody base. The oud is transparent. The result is a delicate leather, almost excessive, with an odd green note that leaves it in no man’s land. Not bad, ideal for those seeking something personal and discreet.
Zzz… The Arabian Breed collection by Parfums de Marly is discontinued. Kuhuyan, the oldest breed, doesn’t deliver the promised nobility. It’s a soft leather with violet, jasmine, and powdery tonka bean. Modest performance, unisex, and easy to wear. It’s good but boring; I don’t get the horse connection. Hamdani is far more interesting. Comparing it to Dior Fahrenheit is a rookie mistake; they have nothing in common. It passed without glory or fuss. If you’re looking for something dirty and animalic, check out Xerjoff Oud Stars or Bortnikoff. Marly fans prefer sweet and easy scents, so this collection pleases no one: boring for the loyalists and too soft for the hardcore.
Very interesting composition. It’s leather, but nothing like Tuscan Leather or the Arabian Breed collection. It has violet, but sweet like gum or Flavigny’s Des Anise, not like gasoline in Fahrenheit. Heliotrope adds vanilla that perfumes the leather. Oud is secondary, just providing warm wood. Ambergris brings that animal and mineral touch that enhances the leather. Smells like musk and almond. Good longevity, over 8 hours, with a short sillage close to the skin. Mysterious, sexy, and enigmatic. It doesn’t resemble Fahrenheit or Cuir de Lancome; comparing them based on bergamot or violet is like saying Bleu de Chanel is similar to Aventus. It does remind me a bit of Chanel Les Exclusifs’ Cuir de Russie: both are leather-floral, but Chanel goes floral while Kuhuyan goes animal. A hidden gem.
A very good perfume, unjustly ignored. It has a powerful leather note, distinct from Tom Ford or Acqua di Parma. It’s sharp, animalic, dark, and highlights the flowers with an almost imperceptible oud that provides balance. Rich aroma, powerful sillage for the first hour, then moderate. It wraps you in a warm bubble for 7-8 hours. Recommended for evening and night; you’ll definitely make an impression. Rating 8/10. I’d give it a 9 if it lasted longer, but it’s excellent and highly recommended.
