Perfumes de Yann Vasnier

Born and raised in the picturesque countryside of Brittany, France, Yann Vasnier’s love of scents was awakened by the lush gardens surrounding his family home. As a young man, he became even more drawn to the world of perfumery through visits to Divine’s house in Dinard. Determined to turn his passion into a career, Vasnier focused his academic studies on passing the perfumer exam. His hard work and dedication ultimately led to him being hired by Quest International (now part of Givaudan) and gaining admission to the prestigious ISIPCA in Versailles. There he had the unique opportunity to train under the legendary perfumer Francoise Caron.

After joining Givaudan, Vasnier quickly earned a reputation for being a talented and innovative perfumer. His notable creativity and skill led him to collaborate with some of the most important names in the industry. Vasnier played a significant role in creating two iconic fragrances for Marc Jacobs: Lola (in collaboration with Calice Becker) and Bang. These scents have had commercial success and contributed to a shift in the fragrance market, moving from celebrity-driven lines to offerings from designer brands.

In addition to his work with Marc Jacobs, Vasnier has developed fragrances for a diverse range of high-profile brands, including Six Scents, Parfums DelRae, Tom Ford, Divine, Donna Karan, and Comme des Garçons. Despite his notable achievements, Vasnier remains relatively unknown outside the circle of elites in international style.

Vasnier’s approach to perfume creation is rooted in his upbringing, where he drew inspiration from the natural beauty of the countryside of Brittany and the art of scent. His work is characterized by an adventurous spirit and a commitment to exploring new paths in perfumery. This has allowed him to develop a distinctively modern and sophisticated style in his fragrance compositions.

As a perfumer at Givaudan, Vasnier’s talent and ultra-modern approach have been fundamental in shaping the success of many well-known fragrances.
