  A light gourmand for everyday wear, this is how I’d define this Arquiste perfume: it blends three contrasts of sweetness, acidity, and toasted notes. It’s pleasant to combine vanilla with the freshness and acidity of lemon, while in the background, you can detect a smoky wood scent and bitter plant aromas. It reminds me of vanilla custard desserts with egg, but in a subtle way, without going full gourmand. I like its skin performance and versatility; it’s light, not overwhelming, nothing sticky or heavy. It’s a scent that floats, presents itself politely without being annoying, pleasing and appearing neat. It’s a bit deceptive because it seems not very dense and like it’s going to disappear, but it lasts with you almost half a day, lingering close to the skin until night. Arquiste seduces me again with good ingredient quality, no transgressive adventures, just well-worked concepts. I really liked The Architects Club and it leaves me wanting to try more.

  If I were blindfolded and sprayed with these, it would take me a moment to tell Arch Club apart from Archiste Eau duelle (EDT) by Dyptique; they’re so similar on my skin that it’s incredible. I adore both, but I admit I look better in one. After finishing bottles of both, my definitive choice is Dyptique’s Eau duelle EDP. It will be my forever vanilla because, besides being fascinating, the memories of discovering it on a trip to the French Alps are incredibly evocative. Always try and judge according to your own taste.
