Descripción

Volutes Eau de Toilette by Diptyque is an aromatic fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2012, this olfactory composition was created by perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin. Upon release, the scent unfolds with tobacco, honey, iris flower, and dried fruits; the heart reveals hay, immortelle, saffron, pink pepper, and black pepper; while the base settles on benzoin, opoponax, myrrh, and styrax.

  • It’s a good perfume with a honey and tobacco base. Then you notice some iris and nuts. I’m not sure if I tried the EDT or EDP, but I really thought it was weak. At first, it was easy to detect, but after an hour or two, it was almost gone. It smells good, but I don’t see it as anything special; there are better tobacco perfumes. Although it wasn’t noticeable on my skin much, my clothes still smelled of it the next day, which is curious.

  • In the niche world, there are masterpieces and there are misses. No one disputes the quality of the ingredients, but that doesn’t guarantee they’ll suit you. If we’re talking about tobacco, Annayake’s Tomo gives this Diptyque Volutes a run for its money at a slightly lower price. It disappointed me too, luckily it was just a sample.

  • I have a strange relationship with this Diptyque; I’ve given it several chances. It opens fresh with iris and dries down to a well-crafted tobacco that sweetens with honey and nuts, finishing dry with resinous notes like myrrh. The scent is almost sublime and fits me perfectly. I see it as unisex, not particularly serious like other tobacco scents. The problem is glaringly obvious: performance. It’s too light and frustrating; sometimes it’s hard to smell. When I do catch it, it’s sublime. Longevity has bursts lasting past 8-9 hours but lacks density. I have both EDT and EDP; the former has more iris and is fresher, the latter spicier and more ‘tobaccy,’ but the differences in scent and performance are minimal. It’s a good option for the office or discreet use if you like this style, very easy to wear for everyone. If you want to make a statement or have a strong presence, this isn’t for you.

  • I like it. The opening is dominated by iris and dried fruits. The fragrance sweetens with honey, and both the tobacco and hay give it a dry touch so it doesn’t get too sweet. I barely notice the pepper, but I do sense the resinous-sweetness from so much resin in the base. I tried the EDP. I liked it quite a bit, but it’s true that, as Drake says, there are moments when it lacks body. I’ve used it several times; sometimes I loved it, and other times I barely smelled it. It feels like something is missing. If you like the tobacco-honey combo, you’ll love this. Perfect for autumn and winter, day and night, but especially for evening. Longevity is durable, but the sillage is soft.

  • I like it. Iris and dried fruits dominate at first, then it sweetens with honey while tobacco and hay add a dry touch to prevent it from getting too sweet. I barely notice the pepper, but I do sense the resinous-sweet base. • I love the Diptyques I’ve tried, and Volutes doesn’t disappoint. The opening is dry due to the nuts and hay, reminding me of ink on paper right upon application. It then sweetens with honey, though I don’t detect the pepper. It ends with a very subtle sweetness lasting about 4 to 5 hours. It’s pretty, but its longevity and projection are its weak points. The quality of ingredients is undeniable. Recommended for those who enjoy honey in a pleasant, subtle way.

  • I love everything Diptyque I’ve tried, and this Volutes was no exception. The opening is dry, probably due to the nuts and hay. As soon as I apply it, it reminds me of ink on paper; I don’t know why. Gradually, it sweetens with honey, which appears quickly. The supposed pepper isn’t noticeable. It ends with a slight, very subtle sweetness, lasting a maximum of 4 to 5 hours. A beautiful fragrance, where its longevity and weak projection are its weak points. The quality of ingredients is undeniable. Recommended for those who like honey (in a pleasant and subtle way) as a main note.

  • A colleague let me borrow it and I was blown away; it’s absolutely gorgeous. Longevity isn’t its strong suit—it usually fades faster on my skin than normal—but maybe that’s its charm: if it were more potent, it would lose that fresh, light cologne vibe. It doesn’t disappear completely, but it’s hard to catch after a while. The blend of tobacco with sweet notes (honey and iris) and nuts is magical; it smells like magic licorice. Everything smells natural and perfectly balanced, with no single note overpowering the others. It transports me back to a bygone era, and that’s what matters most in a perfume.
