Vertus puts vanilla center stage, but without it feeling like cheap dessert or cloying; it’s soft, elegant, and perfectly balanced. Saffron and oud team up to tame oud’s typical metallic edge, while caramel adds a touch of passion and fantasy. Though Kashmir wood, florals, and sandalwood contribute creaminess and nuance, in the end, it’s the vanilla, caramel, oud, and saffron that steal the show and take home all the applause.
Vanilla is my favorite note, and here at Vertus, it shines as the star alongside oud, creating an exquisite, versatile, and totally unisex fragrance. The oud is very wearable—nothing fecal—and the vanilla feels incredibly elegant. A total triumph with this beautiful perfume.
What a lovely vanilla Vertus gifts us in this proposal. Vanilla is the star, concentrating within itself all the components that make it worthy of a try: a sweet, earthy oud, a rose that turns balsamic over time, and a gorgeous sandalwood. I love it because it goes beyond that typical sweet dessert vanilla. Plus, the bottle is extremely elegant.
How do you even start talking about this great house so ignored by popular perfumery? I already own six of their scents, and this is the last one I’ve bought, yet one that surprised me the most. It reminds me of Black Kalemat by Swiss Arabian (amber, vanilla, and oud), but Vanilla Oud has far superior depth and quality, from the packaging and atomizer to the scent itself. The opening is good—sweet, woody, spicy, and deep, with a green fruity base, a hint of caramel, and some spice. It’s a warm blend ideal for autumn and winter, totally unisex for dressing up for night out. Overall, a great perfume. Scent 8.5/10, Sillage 8/10, Projection 8/10, Longevity 9/10.
