Descripción
Unforgivable by Sean John is an aromatic fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2006, this composition was created by David Apel, Pierre Negrin, Aurélien Guichard, and Caroline Sabas. The top notes unfold with tangerine, green mandarin, Sicilian lemon, grapefruit, bergamot, birch leaves, basil, and juniper; the heart reveals lavender, statice, and iris; while the base notes land with rum, cashmere wood, Australian sandalwood, tonka bean, and amber. This perfume was awarded the FiFi Award Fragrance of the Year Men's Luxe 2007.

Excellent option for a daily perfume: fresh, youthful, and interesting. I recommend it for any season and anywhere in the world. On my scale of perfumes for daily use, it’s a 9/10.
It smells like green mandarin. My mom gave it to me yesterday, and today I started using it; I immediately wanted to write this review. Yesterday, applying it to my wrist, I liked it a bit more, but not entirely. Today, putting it on right after a shower, it grabbed a richer, fruitier fixative. I can almost always distinguish the green mandarin scent, though after 30 minutes I notice the cashmere wood. It has moderate longevity, but unfortunately, the trail is very weak. The bottle is simple but pretty. I liked the fragrance and would give it an 8/10.
It’s a good fragrance but not outstanding. You get the citrus at first, then soft woods and a floral note, though the lavender feels a bit weak. The note I noticed most was iris. In the base, the rum and amber are subtle. I felt it was an almost unisex scent; I think if a woman wore it, it could pass as feminine. Unlike others, on me the trail was average for the first two hours, and longevity exceeded 5 hours, though after that it fades to skin scent. I recommend trying it before buying, as that feminine touch might turn some people off. The ingredients feel high quality.
Last year a great friend gave it to me and told me it suited me better than him. I didn’t get why, but I happily accepted it. In my room, applying it to my wrist, its intense aroma dazzled me, and I started looking forward to the weekend for meetings. To me, it’s totally seductive; I’ve received many compliments, from women and men alike. Now I understand my friend; since he’s married, it wasn’t his wife’s cup of tea, but for a single man, it makes perfect sense. I wonder if the designer aimed for a seductive scent, as it’s for men over 30 while his clothes are youthful. But it’s incredibly charming. The opening is an intense, slightly bitter citrus of great quality. Then it develops into a trail of fine woods like mahogany, sandalwood, or cedar, adding mystery and sophistication. As it settles, it takes on a base of bitter orange and alcohol that makes you feel worldly, confident enough to strike up intellectual conversations, whether as a conqueror or in business. Elegant, masculine, warm, intoxicating, seductive, like a fine tobacco pipe. The trail and longevity are satisfying. Undeniably special for romantic nights or dates to win over the woman of your dreams at a sophisticated restaurant, outdoors with candles and champagne, waiting to show her the ring. The dark, serious bottle denotes that seductive proposal, perfect for thanking her for an unforgettable night.
This is my first review on this site, and it helped me choose several fragrances. I just bought it abroad because I don’t think you can find it here in Argentina. It seems ideal for a date or a special event; my girlfriend loves it every time I wear it and enjoys the scent. It has a floral touch but feels very masculine, probably because the rum note adds that extra edge. It’s a great fragrance at a good price, lasting 6 to 8 hours, and I enjoy wearing it in bursts throughout the day. If you get the chance to try it, I recommend it; if you buy it blind, you won’t regret it.
I’m sure it won the 2007 FiFi Award for that exquisite citrus-sweet floral scent, but let’s be honest: don’t expect much in terms of trail or longevity. It lasts about 4 hours with a very soft sillage. The good news is the price is reasonable; reapplying every 4 or 6 hours is totally manageable and enjoyable. Even though its name is ‘Unforgivable,’ I’m going to forgive its lackluster performance just for that wonderful aroma throughout its entire evolution.
Very good fragrance, with a note of orange/tangerine among my favorites, very well recreated and with the right balance: it doesn’t smell synthetic like Boss in Motion or Hugo Dark Blue, nor too natural like just peeling a fruit. Between the opening and the heart, there’s a kind of effervescence or bubbling, like a champagne note instead of the rum it says. When the bubbling fades, it turns into a classic neroli cologne (like 4711 or JM Farina) but enhanced and modernized. On me, the projection is very good for several hours and the longevity is excellent; it lasts all day. Unfortunately, it stopped being sold in Argentina years ago, but in the USA, it’s sold at almost giveaway prices, so every time I travel it’s the opportunity to restock in bulk.
Very good fragrance, one of my favorite orange/mandarin notes, very well recreated, with the right balance where it doesn’t feel too synthetic (like Boss in Motion or Hugo Dark Blue) nor too natural (which isn’t very pleasant either, smelling like you just peeled and ate an orange). Between the opening and the heart, there’s a kind of ‘effervescence’ or ‘bubbling,’ as if it were a sparkling beverage note like champagne rather than the rum it declares. When the fizzing dies down, it transforms into a classic neroli cologne scent (like 4711 or JM Farina) but enhanced and modernized. On me, the projection is very good for several hours, and longevity is excellent; it lasts all day. Unfortunately, it stopped selling here in Argentina several years ago, but in the USA, it’s sold at almost giveaway prices, so every time a trip comes up, it’s the opportunity to restock in bulk.
Not worth it… you only get to enjoy it for a moment, and after 10, 15, or 20 minutes, you’re smelling nothing. It’s a total scam. The longevity and projection are disgusting. Save your money.
Not worth it… you only enjoy the fragrance for an instant, then in 10, 15, or 20 minutes, there’s nothing left but a skin scent. It’s a total scam; I don’t know if it was always like this, but it’s disgusting regarding longevity and projection; watch your money.
I bought it for about $30, and it lasted only three months because my 12-year-old son used it too, and my wife said it smelled great every time we wore it. When I wanted to buy more, the price had gone up. It’s a bit like Bleu de Chanel at the start, with this one being more floral, but they are very similar in the citrus notes. I haven’t tried the Millesime Imperial, but if it smells like Unforgivable, it must be very good. Ideal for daytime and summer.
I didn’t remember I had it. While organizing the bottles, I found it at the bottom of the darkest shelf in my closet, covered with a fine layer of dust. It was my ex’s last gift, bought in Naples (Florida, USA) in 2012. She loved it; I thought it was common and only used it for work, where I received plenty of compliments, mostly from women. I thought after so many years it would be in bad condition, but it wasn’t; less than half a bottle in impeccable condition, I’d even say I like it more now than I did 6 years ago. After breaking up, I left it there until today. It has a citrus opening; in my case, I perceive more orange than mandarin, with a soft sweetness and discretely alcoholic undertone. Upon drying, very subtle and high-quality floral notes appear, nothing to envy from Dior, Chanel, or Cartier, which I find finer. I don’t perceive the wood; the citrus, lavender, and rum (which isn’t intrusive like in Bentley for Men) hide it, or my sense of smell just isn’t sensitive enough. Longevity is very good for dry skin and a citrus fragrance, 4 hours or more; I still detect it on my forearm close to the skin (almost 6 hours). Projection: my daughter isn’t a great benchmark, but she smelled it for 2 hours with a moderate trail. I don’t know if it’s still sold in the USA or Europe; I never saw it in Argentina. Although it was a gift and was nearing $30 back then, I think it’s a good price for this quality. I also don’t know if it was reformulated; I just hope this nearly unknown brand didn’t make that mistake.
I realized last night that my bottle is identical to the one from Fragrántica, but different from the ones in the ads. After researching, I saw that Sean John went to Jacavi Beauty Group with a redesign and reformulation. If you catch a batch before 2017 with the large typography at the bottom, it’s a total hit for temperate climates; the new bottle seems to perform less, but it’s worth trying to confirm.
I found it while organizing my closet, hidden in the dark, cool back, covered in dust. It was the last gift from my ex, bought in Naples in 2012. She loved it; I thought it was common and only used it for work, where I received many compliments from women. I thought after years it would be off, but it’s impeccable, almost half a bottle, and now I like it more than I did six years ago. It opens citrusy, I notice more orange than tangerine, with a soft, sweet, and slightly boozy touch. As it dries down, you get subtle, high-quality floral notes, nothing to envy from Dior or Chanel; it seems finer to me. I don’t notice the wood; the citrus, lavender, and rum (less intrusive than in Bentley) hide it, or my nose just can’t catch those notes. Good longevity for dry skin, 4 hours or more; I can still smell it on my forearm almost 6 hours later. Projection: my daughter noticed a moderate trail for 2 hours. I don’t know if it’s still being sold; I never saw it in Argentina. It cost about $30 back then, a very good price for the quality. I hope it hasn’t been reformulated and that the brand didn’t make that mistake.
I just finished it, and honestly, it’s nothing special; I let myself be swayed by the comments and the 2007 award. It’s not bad, but it’s not for special occasions or among my favorites. It smells citrusy and fresh, but it lasts only a few hours. It’s one of those perfumes for everyday use so you don’t run out of your favorites.
This fragrance just ran out, and honestly, it’s nothing special. I was seduced by several comments and the fact that it was awarded as one of the best in 2007, but it’s not bad, nor is it a perfume for special occasions or one to keep in favorites. It has a citrus and fresh aroma but lasts only a few hours; it’s one of those perfumes you can use daily so you don’t run out of your favorites.
I first bought it in Buenos Aires in 2007; the salesperson recommended it because I was looking for something original, and I loved it instantly. It smells like orange, tangerine, and spices, very delicious. It’s brought me many compliments, and they even gifted it to me again, making me happy to use it once more. Later, it was discontinued in Chile; I searched high and low and finally found it in a free trade zone in Punta Arenas. Until about a year ago (2019-2020), it still wasn’t available in Chile. I think it’s one of my favorites, along with the already discontinued Emporio Armani City Glam, which never came back. What a shame, because it was exceptional.
Sean John is Sean Combs’ line, Puff Daddy. For a celebrity perfume, it’s pretty decent; I don’t know the original, but I think they reformulated it. The citrus and fruity notes come out fresh, mixed with the sweetness of tonka and florals. Still, it smells fresh from start to finish, with that modern urban style, and ends up soft and woody. The development is quite linear, just adding a slightly sweeter touch over time as the base notes kick in. That light, sensual sweetness is the absolute star and pairs beautifully with the wood, ideal for spring and summer. Performance isn’t as bad as I thought compared to others, but it’s not dazzling either; it’s noticeable for about two hours and then fades. If the pre-2017 version performs better as others say, it’s worth it for its personality and that contemporary touch that’s hard to find nowadays.
It starts with grapefruit and lime, then moves to iris and lavender that linger, and finally rum with a very soft amber, all within 5 minutes, with almost no evolution. It was a blind buy based on good reviews, and I guess I had my expectations too high. It doesn’t smell as synthetic and lasts longer than others, but it’s just not my taste. I recommend trying it before buying.
What a weird thing! The opening is a chaotic mess that doesn’t suit me at all; it improves slightly as it dries down, but still doesn’t convince me. It smells very ‘X’. After that strange, astringent opening, it becomes a skin scent, and honestly, the price isn’t cheap at all. I bought it for $60 in Mexico, and it came with gel and aftershave. Not recommended at all, neither for the scent, longevity, nor the price. For that cost, there are better options. P.S.: This is my personal opinion; I’ve never received a compliment with this smell, but everyone should try it to their own taste.
What a weird thing! The opening is too chaotic and I don’t like it at all. Although it improves a bit as it dries, it still isn’t to my liking. It smells very ‘X’; skip the strange, astringent opening and it becomes a skin scent. Honestly, the price isn’t cheap; I bought it for $60 in Mexico with gel and aftershave. Not recommended for scent, performance, or price. You can find better options for the same money. P.S.: Very personal opinion, I’ve never received a compliment with this scent, but everyone should test it for themselves.
Freshness to the nth degree! If you live in hot and humid climates, this is an unbeatable option, especially at $35. The evolution is fantastic: the citrus notes combined with sandalwood are superb. Performance with 15 or 20 sprays is no slouch, since it’s a clean, fresh, and green scent. Highly recommended, because there’s really nothing to lose here. I insist, if you have doubts or issues with performance, 15-20 sprays are absolutely fabulous. Enjoy the fragrance and have fun with it.
A very pleasant fragrance; I haven’t taken the plunge to buy it yet, but I prefer to test it myself. I’ve had bad experiences with YouTubers before—they always say it’s amazing, but the result is terrible, or they give bad recommendations. It’s worth trying it yourself and drawing your own conclusions. I only had a sample a long time ago and loved it. Hopefully, I get lucky and it hasn’t been reformulated (which is almost impossible).
I first encountered this scent via a sample back in 2008 and absolutely loved it. When I tried to buy it, it wasn’t available in Chile, so I searched high and low until I finally snagged it last year from a local website and bought it on the spot. It’s a rich, aromatic, fruity, sweet, and well-spaced fragrance. Maybe it doesn’t have a huge sillage, but it feels like a halo that wraps around you. Greetings from Chile.
Sean John always comes out with interesting fragrances, but it’s a shame about the poor projection and longevity; Unforgivable is no exception—it’s a great fragrance that just doesn’t last.
Sean John always pulls out interesting stuff, and Unforgivable is no exception: a great fragrance, but it suffers from weak projection and poor longevity.
This fragrance is a treasure… I bought it years ago when it first launched, and like many others, I kept it hidden in my drawer. Now that I’m smelling it again… wow, it’s a delicious scent, very unique; I think it even matured in the bottle. It feels more potent now. Thank God I saved it.
Delicious citrus notes, juicy mandarin that gives a very pleasant and unique scent, ideal for summer. The downside is that it doesn’t last long.
The scent smells good, maybe a bit more citrusy than I prefer, but nothing wrong with that. I expected it to last a little longer. I own Zara fragrances, and compared to them, Unforgivable’s longevity and sillage aren’t better. Would I buy it again? I doubt it. I’d opt for something different that, even if it’s more expensive, lasts longer and lets you feel its presence.
This was the first perfume I bought with my own money, and I’m still using it 20 years later; I never get tired of it. I love the perfect balance between woods and citrus; it has an unmatched presence. To this day, I haven’t found anything that matches or mimics this scent. I’ve heard that Club de Nuit Milestone and Creed Imperial share DNA, so I’ll try them to see if I like them. This smell became my identity, giving me a guide and a style. I’ve already bought three bottles, and now they’re hard to find, but it was my entry into the world of fragrances.
I bought this blindly last year after a YouTuber recommended it, and I loved it: soft and rich. Yes, you can detect the mandarin, orange, lavender, and sandalwood; perfect for a signature scent. But its Achilles’ heel is longevity: it projects well for the first hour (with about 5 sprays) and then stays in your personal bubble, only detectable by someone right next to you. Maybe it lasts longer with more application. In conclusion: a rich but discreet perfume; I wouldn’t buy it again. By the way, people say it shares the same DNA as Club de Nuit Milestone; I’d love to try that one, as that house has better longevity, perhaps in the future.
Unforgivable by Sean John: Forget comparisons to Creed or Armaf. While they share DNA, they vibrate differently. What matters is the impact: it’s a bombshell that grabs you immediately. It’s like spotting a movie star on the red carpet; first it intrigues you, then it captivates. It’s the difference between a ‘Who are you?’ and a ‘Hey, you look great.’ It projects an image of a clean, confident, and attractive man without being flashy. It’s a must if you want a scent that represents you anywhere. Everything flows well: top, heart, and base. The only flaw is longevity; it needs constant reapplication, like a sports car lacking power. But for the price, it doesn’t matter. For anyone looking to compete, it’s a great option. Scent: 10. Projection: moderate (good for 1 hour, then fades). Longevity: 5 hours. Recommended.
Sean John Unforgivable: Forget comparisons to Creed or Armaf; while they share notes, the experience is entirely different. What matters is the vibe: it’s a visual magnet, like a Hollywood star dominating the dance floor. It creates instant allure and fascination, the kind of scent that turns a ‘Who are you?’ into a ‘Hey, you look great.’ It projects cleanliness and confidence without trying too hard. It’s a must for any occasion with a flawless evolution. The only flaw is it needs reapplication; it smells like a sports fragrance lacking some punch. But for the price, it doesn’t matter. Ideal for anyone who wants to compete. Scent: 10. Projection: Average (good for 1 hour, then fades). Longevity: 5 hours. Recommended.
