Very good scent, fresh and citrusy, similar to Fico di Amalfi. It’s a green fig, slightly astringent, not cloying, woody, and masculine. Very versatile, ideal for spring. Lasts 6-7 hours, but projection drops significantly after an hour, and the last two hours you only smell it close to the skin.
Everyone has their own vision of scents. When we talk about perfumes, we evoke places or moments, but that can disappoint a buyer who acts blindly. That happened to me with this perfume. I heard Daniel Josier wanted to recall his youth sitting under a fig tree surrounded by grass. I arrived with that idyllic image, but the letdown came when I bought it without smelling it first. Summary: pleasant to my nose, but I wouldn’t buy it again due to poor longevity, weak sillage, an unremarkable scent, and a high price.
I found this gem while searching for fig perfumes. I ordered a decant and fell in love. With the full bottle, the opening is gorgeous and the dry-down is wow: even more delicious. At first, fresh fig and herbs, then a pleasant sweetness, nothing cloying. It makes me feel good and lasts for hours. Perfect for spring, summer, and autumn. Totally unisex, it suits me and my family too. A delight. Note: I tried Armani’s Figuier Eden; it’s similar, but this Daniel Josier one lasts longer and smells infinitely better.
A tribute to the fig: starts citrusy with mandarin and bergamot, which soon yield to the star: fig leaf, fig, green tea, and grass, with mandarin still present. Green and fig dominate for 3-4 hours, then it moves to a soft woody base with musk. Fresh, cheerful, Mediterranean, and evocative. Well-balanced, with moderate projection and 6 hours of longevity. Ideal for spring, summer, and casual days. Daniel Josier’s favorite and highly recommended for fig fans at a great price.
Walking through the countryside and crossing paths with a fig tree in the sun comforts me. I was looking for a scent as faithful as possible to the fig, not mixed or rounded, but pure, perhaps with herbs and wood for that moment in nature. Daniel Josier has achieved it with ‘Under the Figtree’. After searching a lot, I finally have the fig perfume I wanted.
Correction: although it’s a very natural fig, it evolves a lot from the moment you apply it until it dries down. The opening is fresh, herbal, and intense. Soon the fig stands out and lasts for hours, but as it dries, other woods emerge, giving it maturity without losing freshness. It has more development than it seems at first.
Opens with citrus and pink pepper, but green notes quickly take over: grass, tea, and galbanum. Then the fig appears with woods, finishing with a honeyed touch that smells like jam. It’s a perfume that transports you to the countryside with fig trees, mandarins, and lemon trees. Thanks to @Mithrandir.
