Tribu by Benetton

Tribu by United Colors of Benetton: original, unique, and exotic, just like the perfumes of the past with personality. I wore it in ’95 and it lasted incredibly long. Years later, I wanted to get it back, but it was discontinued; however, I found a set on Mercado Libre. I noticed the manufacturer changed to United Colors & Prestige Beauty, though the scent is identical. What a disappointment regarding longevity—it’s not like before. Maybe the brand switch affected it, since Fragrantica lists the same notes. Recently, they relisted it at a lower price; I hope the longevity has improved. There are flankers in different colors, but I doubt they surpass the original.

What a pity that Benetton discontinued this perfume. They had something unique with their fragrances. Their scents were rare, but in a good way: iconic, unique, and eye-catching. Tribu is very earthy and herbal, but in a unique, almost cosmic way. It’s a beast, lasting 8 to 10 hours on the skin. It can be overwhelming if you apply too much. If you like earthy and herbal perfumes, this is for you.

Mr. Perfume, since Benetton stopped making it. My mom loved it and I used to wear it too. Even though it’s strong, it has a lot of personality. It’s a fruity woody scent that shines even more in cold weather and leaves a trail as you pass, with incredible skin longevity. It doesn’t have that ‘vintage’ smell some perfumes from that era have, but it has a presence and aroma I haven’t found since. In a world where Benetton makes generic perfumes without lasting power or soul, Tribu is a reminder of what Benetton used to be and how majestic a perfume can be.

I don’t have a single drop of Tribu left, but I wanted to share my impression. Youthful and sporty, like almost everything from the brand. Its aesthetic and scent exude the nineties in every detail: it evokes vacations, adventure, Polynesian beaches, and surfer friends. It didn’t suit my skin much; I have nothing remarkable to say except that it smelled like shampoo. Not just any shampoo, but a neutral one that leaves hair very clean and crisp. A very original scent, perhaps soapy, but definitely clean and fresh, very wearable in the heat. I never thought it was crazy; I used it with great pleasure.

Smells vintage, sweet, and woody, though it’s intoxicating. It doesn’t have much sillage or projection, but it’s something I truly love. I used to wear it at uni for dates (a friend even lent it to me), and now that I found it at Mundo Aromas, I’m still head over heels for it.

I absolutely love this perfume, but unfortunately, I can’t find it in Chile. If anyone knows where or how to buy it, please help me. Thanks!

For now, it’s available. I know a brand took over the rights to the lotion and the scent remains just as potent, floral, and fruity; it’s identical, just without the Benetton logo, here in Colombia we have it.

It’s a super woody perfume, giving me an autumnal and sweet sensation, but a different kind of sweetness. I love it because it smells very vintage. I’ll keep looking for it and using it. 👌🏽

This fragrance was very popular in my country and, as I can see, in most of Latin America. The bottle is rare and eye-catching, and it was so talked about that it made me quite curious. Tribu opens with mandarin/orange, which are quickly joined by blackcurrants (which gain prominence). The fragrance has the classic 90s touch of juicy, vibrant fruits with body, but without being too serious. A little geranium/rose, a little jasmine, a bit of ylang-ylang; the floral bouquet is present, but here the protagonist is undoubtedly fruity. There’s some quiet, resinous wood floating in the background, and a well-placed moss that adds a minimal herbal touch to the composition. It might be cloying for some people, but I like it; it’s cheerful, ‘youthful’ but not light, its notes are quite aromatic. Moderate sillage (don’t apply too much anyway) with excellent longevity.

Tribu is perfect from day one: sweet, floral, campy, and mossy. You either love it or hate it because yes, it’s very scandalous and noticeable. It doesn’t smell good on everyone’s skin, but I absolutely adore it.

I still have a quarter of the bottle left and I avoid finishing it out of fear, but weakness wins. It’s exquisite! The woody opening and blackcurrants give you an unforgettable welcome. I’ve never found anything like it; it’s very original! What I love most is that it leaves a mark on the pillow and lasts forever on the skin. I love you, Tribu! I seriously plan to write to Benetton to ask for your return and gather signatures online, because we are many who miss you in the department stores.

So many memories from my adolescence; I remember it was cheap and I used it daily. Its scent is so original; if I find it, I’ll definitely buy it again because it doesn’t resemble any other perfume, especially now that everything smells like cotton candy.

A unique perfume, unlike any other. Great longevity and trail; the wardrobe stays perfumed for months. It was my signature since adolescence; I can’t replace it; so far, all the ones I buy last a while and then I get tired of them. Although for many it’s cloying and heavy, it became my distinctive trait. I only find it online, but I don’t trust ordering there; I fear they might send an old or fake bottle.
