  These days, it takes real balls to keep releasing perfumes like this. The Soldano line delivers so much for so little, and the current versions uphold the original’s essence with dignity. I laugh thinking that if a young person today stumbled upon this original in some old basement, the association with a hairy-chested guy driving a Mk2 Golf GTI would be instant. But there’s so much more: a harmonious parade of elegant, uncommon notes that conquer old-school lovers. It’s a sweet-and-sour, multi-layered scent, perfect for fern lovers, though it’s not pure fern; jasmine and rose add finesse before diving into a earthy, herbaceous dimension, turning sour, spicy, and soapy—informally elegant with all its clear chords. It’s a day fragrance that lasts from morning till night, surprisingly affordable. It’s always good to revive sensations that only certain caliber perfumes can, making you feel imaginative, powerful, or simply comfortable with an undeniably old-school vibe.

  The scent quality is absolutely brutal for the price. It smells masculine and sophisticated without being too formal, a top-tier chypre. I think Jerry Drake nailed it by calling it ‘bittersweet,’ as it perfectly balances citrus, spicy, and floral notes in a sublime way. It’s one of the most balanced fragrances in my collection, which, in my opinion, makes it perfectly wearable today for men 30 and up; does it smell retro? Yes, does it smell old-fashioned? No. It’s a true gem for the price. The only downside is that on my skin, the longevity is just okay, but I forgive it because of the sheer pleasure it brings.
