It’s a rich scent, but honestly, it’s not surprising. It’s a playful aroma, like Jean Paul Gaultier’s, ultra-masculine but with less intensity.
Here’s another gem from Orientica. Honestly, these people are the best. This is basically a Layton clone, just not as fast. The opening is identical to YSL’s Nuit de l’Homme due to the fresh cardamom note, just like YSL. Then it dries down like the Parfums de Marly Layton. In terms of longevity, it doesn’t hold up as well as its sisters, which last all day. I think this is the one with the shortest longevity and projection. Still, it lasts about 8 hours projecting the first two notes, then becomes quite intimate.
It’s a vulgar imitation of Layton; the opening smells terrible and is very synthetic. This brand and Bharara are among the worst in terms of limitations.
I don’t know the Parfums de Marly Layton, but I agree with previous reviews: it’s not an easy fragrance and has a slightly ‘mentholated’ scent, which honestly isn’t something I’d wear.
It smells like Vick VapoRub.
It might sound weird, but it smells like Mugler’s Kryptomint. Seeing that several people say this one and Layton (which I haven’t tried) are similar to the original A*Men, it makes sense. The apple and lavender opening gives it that minty touch similar to Kryptomint. I haven’t tested it fully yet, but for now, I like it, even if it doesn’t blow my mind. 8/10.
I bought it as a gift, and honestly, even I loved the scent. It’s mentholated, strong, yet pleasant. Even though it’s considered unisex, it’s totally for men.
This perfume is a Layton dupe. At first spray, they don’t resemble each other much, but as the scent dries down, it becomes much closer to its inspiration. I’m not letting the Arab perfume haters get to me, but on my skin, at least, this Orientica version lasted longer than Layton, and even its dried-down scent seems more delicious to me. Don’t always let prices dictate your choices; sometimes there are hidden gems in Arab perfumery that outshine their inspiration, and this is one of them.
I went along with the reviews because my Layton ran out. I wanted to buy this in the meantime, and honestly, it feels like a diluted Layton—I didn’t like it. I’ll just wait and see if it improves after some aging.
I bought this to replace Layton… and when I finally tried the original, I was a bit disappointed. This is a more wearable and affordable version. I hate clones with my whole being, but this one is made really well: it’s more versatile, less cloying, and has that lost menthol touch found in newer Layton bottles. In my case, I prefer this version, which bothers me a lot. Looking into the ingredients, I see Layton uses tons of cheap components, which gives me a headache. I probably won’t buy the original again, nor will I buy this one since I hate clones as I mentioned, but if you’re looking for a cheap and great alternative, unfortunately, this is the best option.
It has a rich, sweet, and woody aroma. It didn’t seem to last long for me—on average, about 4 to 5 hours in my experience. One thing I didn’t like was that, although I didn’t declare it, after an hour or two, I started smelling an oud note that I absolutely hate.
The scent is rich, sweet, and woody, but it doesn’t last long; in my case, about 4 to 5 hours. The downside is that, even though it’s not advertised, after an hour or two it smells like oud, which really kills it for me.
I smell it exactly like Layton, both in the opening and dry down. I was surprised by the longevity, though it doesn’t have as much projection. Extremely versatile, and I think it’s worth buying if you like Layton but don’t want to spend more than half the price on a perfume. It’s 95% identical (I’m not saying 100% because logically it’s not as intense as the original).
It smells exactly like Layton, both in the opening and when dried down. I was surprised by the longevity, though the projection isn’t as strong. It’s incredibly versatile, and I think it’s worth buying if you like Layton but don’t want to spend a fortune. It’s 95% identical (I won’t say 100% because logically it’s not as intense as the original).
Excellent Layton alternative at a much more accessible price. It’s the second perfume I’ve tried from this house, and it really surprises with its quality and performance, especially considering the price. The opening is a bit off, but that lasts about 5 minutes at most, and then it becomes really delicious; I’d say it’s about 90% similar to Layton. I’ve owned both, and obviously Layton smells a bit better, but the difference is negligible. I recommend everyone try it and give it a chance if you’re a Layton lover. Scent 9/10, Projection 8/10, Longevity 10/10.
An excellent alternative to Layton at a much more accessible price. It’s the second perfume from this house I’ve tried, and it really surprises with its quality and performance, especially considering the cost. The opening is a bit off, but that lasts maybe 5 minutes before it turns rich and becomes about 90% similar to the original. I’ve worn both; Layton smells slightly better, but the difference is minimal. I recommend everyone try it if they’re Layton lovers. Scent: 9/10, Projection: 8/10, Longevity: 10/10.
It smells sweeter to me than North Stag Deux or Détour Noir. I don’t recall Layton being this sweet; it’s like this Orientica version isn’t quite as ‘rough.’ It has that initial menthol note just like Détour. In the end, I’m going with the one from Paris Corner.
I’ve wanted to add Layton to my collection for a long time, but the short longevity of newer batches and the high cost always held me back. I set out to find something that offered a similar experience, and I tried Al Haramain’s Détour Noir and Jo Milano’s Raees Vert. While they were good, I felt something was missing. By the way, with Raees, one day I decided to overspray… and the headache was brutal. Until finally, I listened to a friend who always told me to try Royal Bleu by Orientica, as it was his best alternative. He was right. It’s very similar in scent, nuances, and feelings, but it also offers superior longevity compared to Layton. When I tested Layton with a 5ml decant, applying practically half the bottle in one go, it didn’t last more than 4 hours; after that, it was dead on my skin. In contrast, Royal Bleu easily lasts more than 7 hours, and wearing it at night is a total win because few people remain indifferent. My friends always ask what I’m wearing when I bring it. As for projection and trail, I find it evenly matched with Layton, if not better. If you like Parfums de Marly’s Layton but don’t want to spend that much, this is the one for you. I highly recommend it.
At first spray, it smells less like Layton than other dupes, but once it dries down, it’s about 90% similar. However, it doesn’t last long for me—around 4 hours with 7 sprays. I find it too strong, so I’m sticking with Al Haramain’s Détour Noir: better longevity and cheaper.
I’ve wanted to add Layton to my collection for ages, but the price and the short longevity of new batches always held me back. I tried alternatives like Détour Noir or Raees Vert, but felt they were missing something. Then a friend recommended Royal Bleu by Orientica, and he was right: it smells almost identical in nuance and vibe, but lasts way longer. With a Layton decant and a generous application, it barely hit 4 hours before vanishing; Royal Bleu easily outlasts it for 7+ hours without effort. It’s a total win for nightwear—few people remain indifferent, and everyone asks what I’m wearing. The projection and sillage are very similar, if not slightly better. If you love Layton but don’t want to spend a fortune, this is the one. I recommend it 100%.
