  I was pleasantly surprised by this Swiss house I didn’t know. Quandoley is one of those perfumes with challenging ingredients that make me hesitate until I read the notes, but ultimately they turned out to be sublime, pleasant, and well-balanced. It opens with a curious incense and olive oil vibe that reminds me of visits to an olive mill. Soon it evolves into a sweet floral with lots of vanilla, very subtle oud and frankincense, and plenty of resins. On my skin it’s fairly linear with a notable trail—maybe even heavy for some, so be careful not to overapply—and lasts over 10 hours. It feels like a night scent, perfect for special occasions or dinners, especially in colder months. I wouldn’t buy it right now since I already have similar styles, though they’re worlds apart; I’d use it like Atkinsons’ Oud Save the Queen or Simone Andreoli’s Born From Fire. Quandoley shares with them being a delicate creation from robust ingredients and feeling very distinguished. The only downside, as often happens, is the price.
