The moment the first sprays hit, saffron explodes, blended with an almost unidentifiable floral—probably calendula. Rose joins in at the start, not leading like in its sister Calligraphy Rose, though it becomes more noticeable later without ever taking the spotlight. In the drydown, the scent calms down, gaining a balsamic touch and becoming less floral; styrax resin adds sweetness and depth, though it’s less dark than its sibling. Finally, tonka bean and vanilla settle it in. I thought it would be weak and short-lived, but I was wrong: it projects strongly for the first few hours, then stays closer to the skin, and I can still smell it after eight hours. It’s unisex, leaning slightly feminine due to the calendula, which reminds me of typically ‘womanly’ flowers, yet it suits a man well. I see it as versatile for any weather, though it might shine best in mild or cold climates. It’s good, with acceptable quality and an original twist on its brother’s DNA. I have a small bottle and wouldn’t mind getting more if it were cheaper, but I wouldn’t repurchase it because there are other options I like much more.
The moment I sprayed it, saffron exploded with a floral touch—I’m not sure if it’s calendula, but it sounds great. Rose isn’t the protagonist like in its sister Calligraphy Rose; instead, it accompanies, gaining presence over time but never dominating. In the drydown, it calms down, becoming more balsamic and less floral, thanks to styrax resin which adds sweetness and depth, though it’s less dark than its sibling. Finally, tonka bean and vanilla settle it in with no further evolution. I thought it would be short-lived, but I was wrong: it projects strongly at first, then stays close to the skin, and I can still smell it after eight hours. It’s unisex, perhaps leaning feminine due to the calendula, but it fits a man well. I see it as versatile, ideal for mild or cold weather, not for intense heat. It’s good, with acceptable quality and an original twist, carrying its brother’s DNA but being completely different. I have a small bottle and wouldn’t mind getting more if it were cheaper, but I wouldn’t repurchase it because there are other options I like much more.
Totally agree with Oscar.
