First Zoologist I’ve tried. Snowy Owl is the clean image of a hayloft where birds live (you only smell the bird and its feathers, not their droppings). The recreated atmosphere is cold and damp, like melting ice. After about 20 to 30 minutes, the bird scent fades, leaving fresh air with tiny white flowers and a bit of dirty snow. I think it’s usable, though it seems better suited for winter or rainy days to avoid clashing. To my nose, it’s a feminine unisex. Longevity 6-8 hours, soft to moderate projection. Edit: Confirmed, above 22°C the bird scent stands out more and feels a bit strange and dirty, nothing like the freshness you get in the cold.
Danielle describes it very well. Mainly, Snowy Owl smells to me like cold accords, a green-floral part and another hay-animal type, like bird feathers, though the latter disappears quickly. Then it develops fresh but not refreshing; it’s not made for heat. The resins support that green, rugged aspect, and finally it’s nuanced with mint, moss, and musk, which is what I feel most. I feel Zoologist did a very good and original job. I see it as usable in temperate to cold climates, more during the day than at night, with very good performance. Finally, I would own it, but I think there are other perfumes from the brand that deserve to be tried first. Rating: 7/10.

Snowy Owl is my first Zoologist perfume, that Canadian house that recreates animal ‘habitats’. Dawn Spencer Hurwitz chose the Snowy Owl, and seeing the bottle and reading the notes, I bought it blind. It’s beautiful; it literally smells like snow, especially flakes falling on wet grass; the earth feels cold and damp. Mint adds freshness, winter bellflower and valley lily make it green, and finally coconut, vanilla, musk, iris, and rose make it complex. I struggle to identify those last notes, but my nose says they’re there, making it romantic and nostalgic. I feel it’s suitable for winter and fall, though I used it in spring and it refreshed me. It’s unisex, for when I want to recall the feeling of being in the snow. I don’t recommend buying it blind as it’s very peculiar and changes on skin. In my case, it’s a hit; moderate trail, longevity around 8 hours.

A winter wonder, a unique aroma that conveys that glacial sensation of boreal forests, a mix of greenery, freshness, and cold with an animal touch. Conceptually a hit from Zoologist. To me, it feels unisex-feminine. Scent: 8.5 Originality: 10 Versatility: 7.5 Season: Autumn and Winter Design: 9.5 Final Rating: 4 stars.
Winter wonder! A unique scent evoking the glacial cold of boreal forests—a blend of greenery, freshness, and ice with an animalic touch. Conceptually, a Zoologist hit. In my opinion, a feminine unisex. Scent: 8.5 Originality: 10 Versatility: 7.5 Season: fall and winter Bottle design: 9.5 Final rating: ★★★★☆
What stories brands sell… This smells like snow, tundra forest, winter, something icy… and a horn. That’s how clear it is. Imagine my surprise recognizing it blind alongside Bulgari’s AQVA MARIG. The calone and coconut paired with the winter bellflower create an identical effect. I’d bet money that no one can tell them apart blind. What are they trying to sell us as ‘snow’ is almost identical to something that smells like the beach. Are they playing with us? Do we buy for the scent or the packaging? P.S.: I wanted to fall in love because the owl is my favorite animal. What a letdown.
It’s a complex fragrance of brutal quality, but there’s something I don’t fully understand yet that absolutely fascinates me: IT SMELLS LIKE SNOW, LIKE ICE, LIKE COLD. Zoologist wants you to sniff the animal’s habitat, and this one teleports you straight to snowy mountains. It’s curious and definitely worth trying.
