  The Oud by Spirit of Dubai is a woody oriental fragrance with natural Indian oud oil. The opening is explosive and challenging; instantly you detect the power and mystique of this opulent, elegant note, yet it’s also rough and characterful. The first hours are very woody, sharp, and animalic; that’s all you’ll perceive in the opening, as it’s the axis of the composition. However, if you analyze it closely, you’ll notice a slight fresh, floral, and fruity aroma wrapped in the oud, as if a beam of light were piercing through dense smoke. After 2 or 3 hours, the oud loses intensity and the abrasive nuances disappear, leaving a very elegant, fine wood. Here, pineapple, florals, and citrus nuances emerge with more strength, though not very prominent. It’s an intense and complex perfume that won’t please everyone, but if you understand the beauty of natural oud, you’ll love it. Very good longevity, over 14 hours, with intense projection for the first 6.

  Literally smells like horse poop. Interesting fragrance, but it smells like that. You’ll only like it if you love heavy ouds.

  Magnificent composition from a good student of Roja; shares with his master the use of top-quality ingredients and a subtlety that’s hard to distinguish. The opening is very woody, with a non-animal oud that is super elegant. That’s the word: elegance. An oud with other dry woods like cedar that for the first ten minutes create a majestic, regal aroma. That alone would be enough for a serious perfume, but this one evolves: the dry oud softens, and clear notes emerge—clean florals and a subtle vanilla that was hidden in the opening and appears in the dry-down with delicacy, transforming a regal scent into something approachable and pleasant without losing class. It’s not sweet or gourmand; it’s evolving and surprising. To me, it’s very masculine at first and totally unisex in the dry-down; it could be winter-leaning at first and spring-like later. It’s among the flower and cream of the ouds. Excellent longevity and moderate-to-good projection in the dry-down. Ideal for formal situations because it never loses its elegance.

  If anyone compares this to Croxato Oud, they’ve never tried either. It’s embarrassing that anyone can vote and make such absurd comparisons. The Oud by Spirits of Dubai is a masterpiece: deep, elegant, versatile wood, top-tier quality. If it smells like horse poop to you… do yourself a favor, friend, you just don’t get it.
