Descripción

Noir Epices by Frederic Malle is an oriental spicy fragrance created for men and women. Launched in 2000, this scent was crafted by master perfumer Michel Roudnitska. Its olfactory composition unfolds with elegance: the top notes reveal a vibrant geranium, a citrusy orange, and a delicate rose; the heart intensifies with the warmth of cloves, nutmeg, pepper, and cinnamon; while the base settles into a sweet, woody foundation of sandalwood, patchouli, cedar, and vanilla.

  • A good intimate-character fragrance with a serene composition, not intended to grab attention but to keep people close to enjoy a more personal connection. It’s not as spicy as its name suggests; the spices enhance the roses and orange, adding a kick to the roses to focus attention on them, while freeing the orange from its freshness to highlight the skin scent. All notes are high quality: the roses are un-inhibited in their fullness, without soapy touches to make it wearable, a rich orange that sweetens everything, and two standout spices: a carnal clove and a pepper that you don’t so much smell as feel accompanying the roses. For that calm and seductive personality, I see it as ideal for autumn afternoons and evenings with someone you know. Good longevity of 8-9 hours and an easy-to-detect trail.

  • Good evolution from start to finish, no abrupt changes but at least three clear phases. At first, lots of orange and florals, especially geranium and rose, with spices present from the very beginning (clove and cinnamon). In the second phase, it smells effervescent; pepper is the culprit here, where spices dominate, the orange fades, and vanilla with the woods mark their territory. In the dry down, vanilla takes the lead, mixed with an elegant, soft patchouli. Moderate sillage and good longevity. I see it as unisex but with a masculine character. It works well in the cold; I’m not sure how it would perform in heat.

  • Noir Epices is a modern, sober spicy oriental that dips into chypre territory with a softness that makes it unisex. Everything revolves around a core of clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and pepper, complemented by sweet orange, pale vanilla, woods like sandalwood and patchouli, and a heart of Bourbon geranium with a hint of rose. Everything feels very natural and well-constructed. Top-tier quality, correct longevity, though it lacks a bit of projection, making it very intimate and gaining in personal enjoyment. Elegant and sensual, but not in a lewd way; that sensuality comes from the dark and enigmatic nature of the scent. Rating: 7.

Superb fragrance, dark yet eternal and sticky. Immediately evokes Blackpepper by Comme des Garçons with that bold, spicy base. Spicy bases are in vogue and perfect for winter. The trail is permanent and the longevity is flawless. A solid 9, without a doubt.
