Descripción
Vetiver Extraordinaire by Frederic Malle is a woody oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2002, the nose behind this composition is Dominique Ropion. The top notes unfold with bitter orange, bergamot, pepper, caraway, and cardamom; the heart reveals vetiver, pink pepper, cloves, licorice, and incense; while the base notes land with cedar, oakmoss, sandalwood, myrrh, musk, and ambrette musk.

I got a sample of this Extraordinary Vetiver. Absolutely fantastic! Amazing! I hope to buy it someday. I think it’s on a higher level. Just as good as my classic vetivers but with a wonderful modern twist. I want it so bad.
Extraordinary, except for the price. I don’t even know how much this review is costing me. I was waiting to try the ‘King of Vetivers.’ Since vetiver is my favorite note, I started trying almost every one I could find. When the sample of Extraordinaire finally arrived, I couldn’t wait any longer. After reading so much and trying so many vetivers, my expectations were sky-high… Upon application, the opening was exactly what I expected or even better. A sparkling explosion of top-quality vetiver with citrus and soft pepper, almost orgasmic. BUT, five minutes into my skin, it smelled like vinyl/rubber/plastic, as others say. I clarify that I’ve never felt that in any other vetiver. The disappointment was huge. A month later, I bought samples from another site and got the same result: vetiver turning into plastic. As I write this, I almost lie to give it a ‘like’ just because it’s iconic or because of all my expectations, but whenever I find an argument, the price comes to mind. So far, only three vetivers don’t work for me: 1- Vetiver Dance by Tauer, a nightmare. 2- Vetiver Original by Creed, acceptable but never worth that price. 3- Vetiver Extraordinaire, expensive and smells like plastic on my skin. I hope it works for others; I’m jealous. Longevity reaches 7 hours, almost imperceptible, and sillage is moderate at first then very close to the skin. Rating: 4/10.

I had high expectations since forums rate it very highly. It is quality, but honestly, it reminded me a lot of Guerlain Vetiver, which is much cheaper, so I’m not ready to drop almost €200 on a 100ml bottle yet. I perceived it as quite earthy due to the vetiver, with not much evolution. If you like Guerlain Vetiver, you’ll surely like this one. Longevity and sillage are moderate. Since it doesn’t overpower, it can be worn in all seasons and occasions. It’s masculine and has a classic vibe.
Smells great, like everything else I’ve tried from Malle, but if money is tight, I don’t think it’s the best option haha. It’s a good vetiver but doesn’t offer much more, and the performance is just medium.

It works well for me. Starts with bergamot and pink pepper, then moves into a powerful vetiver softened by clove and myrrh, closing with cedar. I like it more than Encre Noire; it’s a good vetiver, but for me, it’s not extraordinary. Ideal for spring and autumn, daytime. Lasts quite a while and leaves a moderate trail.

Creamy woods of vetiver, sandalwood, and cedar with a clean, green touch from musk and oakmoss. Smells good, but I don’t see anything that makes it special. It’s okay, nothing more.
