  • Exquisitely spicy, very masculine, with good projection and more than acceptable longevity, making it an EXCELLENT fragrance. It reminds me a lot of Hugo Boss Boss Spirit, launched 29 years before this Mercedes Benz. With only 3 notes in common (Basil, Lavender, and Patchouli), the blend of the rest of the notes makes it very similar to Boss Spirit. Very versatile and suitable for any season, especially at night, except on very hot days. I’ve always been a fan of Boss Spirit and was sad when it was discontinued, but upon discovering Mercedes Benz Man Private, for the first time, I found a fragrance that evokes that Hugo Boss gem, not at its level, but with a great approximation. 100% Recommended.

  • A fragrance that deserves to be in any collection, very good presentation with novel packaging and a distinctive bottle with the Mercedes Benz seal, very pretty. The juice: 12 hours of longevity easily with wide projection, excellent value for the price. It reminds me of Bentley for Men Intense, elegant, spicy, and heavy, a millionaire scent at a very economical price. Recommended.

  • A fragrance worth having in any collection; the presentation is excellent with its novel packaging and distinctive bottle featuring the Mercedes Benz seal. A very beautiful bottle. The juice: 12 hours of longevity comfortably with a wide projection; in relation to the price, it’s totally excellent. Its aroma reminds me of Bentley for Men Intense, an elegant, spicy, and heavy fragrance that is said to smell like a millionaire, but at a very economical price. Recommended.

First, let me clarify that despite all the context, an Argentine chain starting with ‘J’ carries this fragrance and the entire Men line (except Grey). I tested it yesterday at a mall; I don’t know if a single test is enough for a good review, but I took my time. I was impressed by the longevity on skin: 8 hours easily, projecting maybe 4 according to my partner. It’s the longest-lasting perfume I’ve tried from this brand. It has a slightly green and spicy opening, nothing annoying or intrusive. The cardamomo is very distinct and of excellent quality (similar to YSL La Nuit de L’Homme). As it dries down, it loses some intensity and cedar with patchouli take the lead; there are tobacco hints, an undeclared but perceptible note, less noticeable than in Bvlgari Man In Black and more akin to One Million Privé. From there, it becomes more linear, but it’s not a rustic woody scent; it leans more refined and classy. I really loved it; it gives a sense of quality. As others have noted, even with similar fragrances, it’s worth buying. Here it costs exactly $49 for 100ml, it’s the most expensive in MB, but I think it’s worth it. Ideal for those who enjoy woody scents without that cloying, annoying sweetness found in other lines: elegant, masculine, and with excellent performance. After this pleasant surprise, I’ll try the new fragrances from the Man line. Respectful greetings.

What stood out was the longevity on skin, easily 8 hours, projecting maybe 4 according to my partner; it’s the longest-lasting one I’ve tested from this brand. Opening is slightly green and spicy, not annoying or intrusive. The cardamom is noticeable with clarity, excellent quality (similar to YSL’s L Homme line). • What a discovery! What I notice most is cardamom and lavender, then cedar. Super charming, projects well, and lasts a long time. Every time I buy something cheap with great results and remember perfumes costing double that last a quarter as long, I realize we’re being scammed. Also, the packaging is incredible: fragrances costing 60 to 90 euros come with trash-can boxes, while this Mercedes Private (excluding niche expensive ones or Yuqawan with a wooden box) has the best packaging. Definitely a must-have for the collection, highly recommended.

  • What a great discovery. What I feel most is the cardamom and lavender, followed by cedar. Super charming, great projection, and long-lasting… Every time I buy an inexpensive fragrance with such good results and remember perfumes costing double that last a quarter of this, I realize more clearly that perfumers are scamming us. On top of that, when you see the packaging… you’re blown away. Fragrances costing 60 to 90 euros come in a trashy box, while this Mercedes Private comes (excluding crazy-priced niche perfumes or Yuqawan with its wooden box) with the best packaging available. In short, a fragrance that must be in your collection, highly recommended.

  • Mercedes Benz Man Private: A fragrance that, even though it doesn’t have chocolate or cocoa notes, reminds me of it, giving that suede-like, warm, and liquorish sensation. It’s a linear fragrance, it doesn’t evolve or change; it stays the same from start to finish. It’s one of those fragrances especially for cold climates; don’t expect a glorious perfume because it isn’t; it’s a fragrance that seemed it would be fabulous but fell short. Its longevity and projection are moderate; it’s a somewhat elegant fragrance, but it eventually becomes boring, a slightly monotonous aroma, barely pleasantly agreeable. It aimed high but never quite arrived. Scent: 7.0. Projection: Moderate. Longevity: 6 hours. Recommended up to a maximum of $40. Courtesy of Leonardo Da Vincho, thanks, friend.

  • Mercedes Benz Man Private: Smells like chocolate and cacao, even though it doesn’t have them, it gives a suede, warm, and liquorish sensation. It’s linear, doesn’t evolve, and stays the same from the start. Ideal for cold weather, don’t expect glory because it doesn’t have it; it seemed fabulous but fell short. Moderate projection and longevity. It’s elegant but ends up boring, a monotonous scent, barely mildly pleasant. It tried to be more and didn’t make it. Rating: 7.0. Projection: Moderate. Longevity: 6 hours. Worth it up to $40. Thanks, Leonardo Da Vincho.

  • I wore it today and made a rookie mistake: 7 sprays… This lasts all day and the first 3 hours it’s a projection beast. I was at the office and I was dying of my own scent xD… What a great aroma, but I think it’s only for cold weather; today it wasn’t cold and it was a bomb.

Delicious fragrance I discovered a few days ago thanks to a friend. It has almost everything: plenty of elegance, performance, component quality, blending, and a good price-to-quality ratio. In short, a beautiful fragrance that I think I’m going to buy. I say ‘think’ because, 15 to 20 minutes after applying a decant, I detected a familiar vibe, quite similar to Bentley for Men Intense. Both Saturday and Sunday I compared them, and they are indeed similar, but this MB Private has a short-lived herbal opening, after which the woods (elegant and of superior quality to most) take over, becoming quite linear, but not less attractive. At first, it’s cedar, then labdanum, and finally the heavier woods dominate. To me, it’s not an amber-woody scent; it’s more of a spicy woody fragrance. It’s more for night and cold weather, but in autumn and formal occasions, it will stand out as a very masculine fragrance. Bentley shows the rum right from the start, then becomes more woody until incense appears; that wood-rum-incense blend lasts hours, rotating notes until it disappears after 8 hours with a minimum projection of 4. MB Private lasts a bit less, same with projection, but both are fragrances that don’t need reapplication. To my taste, MB Private is a bit better, perhaps because it’s more versatile. If this fragrance had a soft amber sweetness (which it really doesn’t) and balsamic traits, I’d give it a 10. As it is, it gets a notable 9/10 compared to Bentley’s 8.5/10. It’s a pleasure to enjoy and review sublime quality fragrances whose price matches their value. Off topic: I think ambroxan is listed among the notes, but I never perceived it; it must be there in minimal doses, and the rest of the notes probably mask it.

In short, the best perfume I’ve bought from Mercedes: it smells like a millionaire. It has a similarity with Nasomatto’s Pardon and this one did cost me a pretty penny; if I had known this Mercedes had such an unsettling resemblance, I wouldn’t have spent that money on Nasomatto’s indulgences.

  • Delicious fragrance I discovered thanks to a friend. It almost has everything: elegance, performance, quality, assembly, and price. But 15-20 minutes after a decant, I noticed a familiar air to Bentley For Men Intense. On Saturday and Sunday I compared them: they are similar, but this MB Private has a brief herbal opening and then the woods (elegant and of superior quality) take over, becoming linear but attractive. At the start it’s cedar, then labdanum and strong woods. For me, it’s more woody-spicy than amber. It’s for night and cold weather, but in autumn or formal events, it stands out. The Bentley smells like rum from the start, then woods, incense, and that assembly lasts hours until 8, projecting a minimum of 4. The MB Private lasts and projects a bit less, but you don’t need to reapply. For me, the MB Private is a bit better because it’s more versatile; if it had a soft amber sweetness (which it doesn’t) and balsamic traits, I’d give it a 10. As it is, it gets a 9/10 versus the Bentley’s 8.5/10. It’s a joy to enjoy sublime quality fragrances. Off topic: I think it carries ambroxan, but I never perceived it, maybe it’s in minimal doses hidden by the rest.

  • I was looking for something ‘alpha male, hairy chest, silver back’ to counteract the sweet unisex perfumes around me, so I tried the Mercedes Benz Man Private. What a surprise: it’s masculine, elegant, and imposing, but not overpowering like the vintage ones. It has superior quality compared to the other ones from the brand (I’ve only tried For Men, Cologne, and Man Intense). I agree with Juantra01 and Leonardo Da Vincho: it’s more spicy than amber, but not rough or dry. I’m putting it in ‘I want it’. Scent: 9, Longevity: 8.75, Projection: 8.75, Versatility: 6.5.

  • What a crazy perfume! Right out of the bottle, it smells like a hint of tobacco (even though it’s not listed), but after 10 minutes, it feels like walking into a cedar sawmill; that sensation grows stronger over time. Sometimes it reminds me of Bentley Men Intense, but without the liquor that sweetens it: the Mercedes is totally rough, zero sweetness. It lasts 10 hours on my skin with a relaxed projection for the first 3. It’s for elegant dressing, nothing casual; in the office, 3 sprays are enough so you don’t overwhelm anyone. 100% masculine scent. I insist, what a beast of a fragrance!

  • Very masculine fragrance. Starts with an alcoholic touch similar to Bentley for Men Intense, which fades quickly to reveal a heart of barely spiced woods. All of this is supported by an amber accord where patchouli weighs heavier than vanilla, creating a refined oriental aura.

I absolutely loved the Mercedes-Benz Man Private. It’s the direct competitor to Bentley for Men Intense. They follow the same path: an ultra-masculine and elegant aroma. Man Private opens with cardamom and cypress; it’s unique from the start. In the heart and dry-down, the ambroxan and woody notes round out the composition. Compared to Bentley, here you lose the alcoholic and sweet leather touches in favor of more wood. Elegant, sober, totally masculine. A scent that commands authority. It’s not made to please the masses or for daily use, but it’s liked because it’s different and stands out from trends. Its performance is outstanding, about 10 hours, with notable projection for the first three hours. Then it drops to skin scent, but remains perceptible within a meter. Ideal for work meetings and business. Perfect for cold weather, autumn, and winter. Best suited for formal wear. Excellent value for money. Gets great reviews.

  • I saw it on sale for Black Friday and almost bought it blind thanks to the positive reviews. I decided to try it first to avoid making a mistake. I admit it’s excellent quality. It has top-notch longevity, projection, and trail. But the scent feels like it’s for a man over 65. My advice: try it before buying. I repeat, the quality is excellent and the scent is rich, but it’s geared toward the older crowd.

  • What a rich scent. Reminded me of Bvlgari Men in Black. In my opinion, it’s the best Mercedes perfume. It’s warm, rounded, creamy, addictive, tobacco-like, and truly beautiful. On my skin, it had great longevity despite its low projection.

  • I went with the hype and bought it blind because of the price. Total disappointment. It doesn’t resemble the Bentley for Men Intense at all. It’s a sweet, woody scent with no personality or sillage. If they’d emphasized the lavender and patchouli more or added a touch of whisky, it would have some character. You can only smell the cardamom and a linear amber with no evolution. It reminds me of Rasasi WaaW Sottó; in fact, it’s a clone. Mercedes Benz has a particular DNA in their perfumes; even if they’re clones, that sweet amber base doesn’t convince me and makes them feel lower quality. The box and presentation are excellent, but the atomizer works poorly. It lasts about 4 hours, then fades to skin. Poor projection, trail is okay. From this house, I recommend the Parfum (it’s the same but with a marked leather note and lasts longer) or the Night (same scent, but lasts worse, though it has a Givenchy Only vibe and more personality). Honestly, these perfumes are good if you can get them for under $25. For more, there are better options.

  • I already reviewed the Mercedes Benz Man Private a few days ago. Today I went to the mall and luckily found this fragrance I’d smelled before but didn’t like. I thought my opinion wouldn’t change, but I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, I remember it was bad, but not as bland as it is now. It’s one of the worst I’ve smelled in decades. Maybe I’m more sensitive lately, or maybe the house reformulated it. I wouldn’t even put it in my car. Horribly synthetic with nothing pleasant about it. They tried to mix suede, amber, and woods, but it just doesn’t work. It’s an unpleasant scent with poor taste. It seems to want to be big and ends up in a boring catastrophe. It’s a half-hearted job without passion. The notes looked attractive on paper, but they failed to make them shine. It’s just a pretty box with the Mercedes Benz name and the word ‘private’. It’s a boring, uninteresting lab test tube. For me, it’s a forgettable scent. Not even for gifting. Scent: 4/10. Projection: Weak. Longevity: 6 hours. Not recommended.

  • I saw it back on shelves in drugstores and it gave me pause. When a scent disappears and then reappears, it’s usually a new batch (reformulated). And it didn’t fail: it lasted 20 minutes. Five minutes of ‘explosive’ scent, then 15 minutes skin-scent. Note: this is in Argentina.

Opens with cypress, cardamom, and hyssop, offering a warm, spicy, woody, and green fougère vibe. Then comes the heart with ambroxan and lavender, adding an amber, resinous touch with a slight floral sweetness. It dries down to cedar, patchouli, and cashmere wood, closing with a solid woody accord.

  • I own perfumes over $100, and this one, being one of the cheapest, is a total winner. If it were a niche fragrance, it would be top-tier. Smells like a mature man in a tuxedo. Perfect for guys over 30. Longevity, projection, and quality: 10/10. At this price, it’s a must-buy and makes for the perfect gift.
