  • I gifted Mefisto Gentiluomo to myself after a year of hard work. I know I’m just looking for excuses to pay for this luxury. My wife kisses me and says I deserve it. I sprayed several times because I hate mediocrity, especially if I’m going to write; I don’t throw truths from cheap samples, so I almost never buy decants. I hold my breath and… Shazam! What a beautiful presentation. Bells ring out and you return to the best days of your life. It reminds me of Vietnam Opium and I fade into an impossible garden. Everything is beautiful until you wake from the trance, with the illusions and orgasmic rawness, and you see a familiar image through a kaleidoscope: Creed Silver Mountain Water. The effect passes, you shake off the grass and the grapefruit and bitter orange blossoms from your shoulders. The similarity to SMW is huge in the second part of its three movements, giving you a grimace, a small disillusionment, especially if you have 60 ml of SMW left. The truth is, the quality of MGU is incomparable to Creed and lacks the metallic touch of SMW. Mefisto Gentiluomo lasts at least 2 hours, but its deep dry-down exceeds 16 hours. It’s beautiful, clear, and moves like a razor’s edge between masculine and unisex (a style Italians like), it’s almost universal, hard to reject, with a boomerang effect in the opening and second phase, an eternal moving perfume almost plastic. In this final phase, clean, positive, and creamy, floral sweetness and bitter vegetal notes (mint) emerge with a subtle citrus spirit of quality that only brands like Xerjoff back up. Mefisto Gentiluomo has much to demonstrate and although I’ve loved it, it doesn’t reach being a work of art; time will tell. For now, it has a story to write with me. I need to experience more of that deep dry-down which is a radiant day, the kind of scent that recalls light, wind, and the harmony of those days that exist and we have all lived. Perhaps its greatest virtue is reminding us of that. Projection is medium-high and longevity is superb.

  • In terms of notes, it’s almost identical to classic Mefisto, sharing the same opening but much brighter and fresher. Lavanda hits fast and is noticeable within the first five minutes. Then, in the heart, the rose, iris, and violet blend from the original emerges, but less prominently; here, lavender takes over, adding an ozonic rather than aquatic feel, more like a grassy hillside brushed by the fresh sea breeze. As it dries, amber appears, creating an oscillating warm-cold sensation that’s soft and creamy. As Sergio Momo calls it when naming it Gentiluomo: a proper Italian gentleman, cool, calculating, elegant, and clean. It projects better than the classic, with good bursts. While it’s a top pick for summer, it’s perfect for autumn because its dry-down is creamy and less fresh.

The lavender note appears quickly and is very noticeable within the first 5 minutes. Later, in the heart, the rose, iris, and violet combination from the classic emerges, but it’s not as prominent as in its older brother; instead, the lavender is accentuated, providing a subtle ozonic sensation—not marine or aquatic per se, but rather a hillside of herbs brushed by the fresh sea air. In the dry-down, amber appears, giving an oscillating warm-cold, soft, and creamy feeling. Sergio Momo defines it perfectly by naming it Gentiluomo: an Italian gentleman in every sense of the word, cold, calculating, elegant, and clean. It has better longevity than the classic, with occasional bursts that project very well. Although its best performance is in summer, it can be worn perfectly in autumn because its dry-down is creamy and less fresh.

I think it’s a great perfume, the best from Casamorati in my opinion. Great resemblance to SMW, fresh and pleasant opening, feels weak and shy at first but nothing like that. After 10 minutes, the party starts: soapy citrus with a soft, tasty, and slightly sweet violet. Very good longevity, it leaves a skin scent that lasts me 12 hours and on clothes for days. A charming fragrance that could also dress a woman without any problem. A very good bet for summer and warm climates. This is it.

  • I don’t dislike it, but I get a smell of cheap shampoo or shower gel with a talc-like touch, pass.

  • A flanker of Mefisto / Silver Mountain Water that surpasses the originals. Not much more to say after the good description by @Jimmyvrod. Being less intense and ‘heavy’ than Mefisto and lacking the metallic character of SMW, it’s more spring-like and summery, and in my opinion, better and more versatile. An ode to lavender, but fresh and sparkling at the start, then it powders and lingers for hours. Its longevity is notable even in summer, and its projection is extended in time and space. I would recommend starting with a few sprays, maybe two, then adjusting according to your skin, because this perfume deceives: it seems like it won’t last, but it does. Excellent in spring and very good in summer.

  • A scent very similar to SMW, this one a bit soapy but delicious… a scent to wear with a white dress shirt, suitable for formal meetings. SCENT: 9 LONGEVITY: 10 HOURS SILLAGE: MODERATE

It’s an ode to lavender, yet fresh and sparkling at the start, then settling into a powdery trail that lasts for hours. Not only is its longevity remarkable, even in summer and hot weather, but its projection is expansive in both time and space. In fact, I recommend starting with just a few sprays, maybe two, and adjusting the amount later according to each person’s skin, because this perfume deceives: it seems like it won’t have great longevity and projection, but it actually does. Excellent for spring and very good for summer too.

  • A nice masculine floral, citrusy, with fougère tones of lavender. The star flower is violet. These aren’t the dark, mysterious violet leaves from Fahrenheit or Narciso Rodriguez for Him; here they are soft, sweet violet flowers. It smells like those purple violet candy bits sold in metal tins (I don’t know if they still exist). In the dry-down, I notice a soft leather or suede accord that I love so much. Interesting.

What a rich and elegant perfume, Mefisto Gentiluomo. It’s inspired by old-school barbershops where men didn’t just groom themselves but also engaged in social conversations, but beware: this doesn’t mean it smells old—that would be a huge mistake. It’s a fresh, invigorating, and elegant scent; being citrus-based, it has excellent longevity, projection, and trail, just like its cousin Fiero. It’s not just another citrus; it’s a floral citrus. I’ve read many people saying it smells like shampoo, but I won’t get into debates—it definitely does not smell like shampoo. Continuing with the review, it’s a burst of citrus mixed with flowers and lots of musk that gives it cleanliness and sensuality. In the dry-down, you get that iris and violet, and with the combination of lavender and other citrus notes, it creates a subtle, exquisite metaphysical sensation that might remind you of Creed’s Silver Mountain Water, but in my opinion, Gentiluomo is light-years better than being a clone; it’s superior in every aspect. It’s more than a perfume; it’s a journey of magnificent sensations. 100% recommended for spring and summer, but if you need a dose of elegance and something to boost your mood on those low days, Mefisto Gentiluomo is the perfect choice.

What a rich and elegant perfume, Mefisto Gentiluomo. It’s inspired by old-fashioned barbershops where men not only groomed themselves but also held conversations, but don’t get the idea that it smells old; that would be a big mistake. It’s fresh, invigorating, and elegant; being citrus-based, it has important longevity, projection, and sillage like its cousin Fiero. It’s not just another citrus; it’s a floral citrus. I’ve read that some people smell shampoo in it, but for nothing does it smell like shampoo. It’s a citrus punch mixed with flowers and lots of musk that gives it cleanliness and sensuality. As it dries, that iris and violet come out, which, combined with lavender and citrus, give an exquisite metaphysical sensation that might remind you of MSW from Creed, but in my opinion, Gentiluomo is lightyears better because, to my taste, it’s superior in every aspect. It’s more than a perfume; it’s a magnificent sensory journey. 100% recommended for spring and summer, or if you need a shot of elegance and something to lift your spirits on a bad day. Perfect choice.

  • Absolutely magnificent. A perfume masterpiece. Versatile to the extreme, generates tons of compliments. It’s a shot of energy and elegance. It makes me happy, it puts a smile on my face. Splendid.

  • A classic barbershop fragrance modernized, much more versatile for those over 25. Smells like a clean, fresh man, but not old-fashioned. It opens bright and fresh, then lavender and violet enter to spice up the blend and leave that typical musky dry-down. Everyone will love it: newcomers, collectors, and perfume lovers alike. Simple in concept but they nailed it. Great for daytime, but watch out: in the battle of sweet scents for night, if you wear this, you might hit the mark. Good longevity, though it fades a bit in extreme heat; under normal conditions, it lasts about 10 hours (between 9 and 12). Valid all year round and in any situation, formal or informal. Projects strongly for the first two hours (the first hour is sublime) then drops to a personal bubble but remains perceptible. A simple scent taken to the extreme in terms of finesse and balance. Absolutely recommended. I give it a 9/10.

A scent that doesn’t overwhelm or shout. You’ve probably heard it before; it actually reminds me of Percival from PDM. Vivid citrus, lavender, and an almost imperceptible violet create a modern fougère that seems innocent but clings to the skin. I expected more floral power (I don’t detect the iris) and more impact, but after trying it several times, I admit that despite its simplicity, it’s very well made. It’s not annoying, gives a clean feeling, and accompanies you without making a fuss, screaming for spring and summer. Yes, I like it.
